I bought control knob #8181859. When trying to replace it on the shaft it hangs up and w/n push past the ridge on the shaft. The metal piece seems to be hanging up on the ridge. It slips on fine on the washer shaft but not the dryer. Any suggestions would be helpful. Larry

Answer Hello Larry, Yes, the metal insert stays in the knob 8181859. You need to check and see if the old insert is stuck on the control knob shaft. If so, pull it off to remove it. Then the new knob pushes onto the shaft of the board.

Regarding the replacement knob for the duet....when the knob breaks off, do you have to replace the whole interface or will the new knob simply insert back on? I did not see a protruding rod to attach knob to.

Answer Hello Jennifer. If the shaft for the knob is broke, you will need to replace the control board on the unit.
