How do I check the damper control to see if it is working? Everything in the fridge was freezing. A while back the freezer drawer wasn't closed completely, so the freezer frosted up quite a bit. I cleaned out the frost, but the fridge started freezing things. I emptied the fridge and freezer and let it sit for a day to completely thaw in case the parts had frozen up from the frost. (I noticed that the temp control in the freezer didn't turn off the fridge when I turned it to OFF.) After I turned the unit back on the freezer temp did turn off and on. I set it at 2 and noticed that the fridge was still freezing things. I set the freezer dial at 1 and the fridge stopped running constantly. I checked the damper control and the door does open and close as I turn the dial. (It does not close completely, even at the lowest setting) I'm not sure how to test it under working conditions?? Sorry for the lengthy question!

My fridge cools to 37 degrees then shuts off as it should. It does not cool again (warms to 60 degrees) until I move the thermostat a little bit. I'm thinking I have a faulty thermostat? Thanks

This is an Amana bottom freezer refriegerator The freezer works well but the refriegerator part is not at all cooling. I opened the panel in the freezer and found ice frozen in the air return path. I cleared it and then the unit seemed to be working though it was still not as cold enough even at the top setting. I suspect it is the damper control since I see the fan in freezer unit working. I want to order this part and try fixing it. But before that I need to find a way of removing cover for the damper control unit. I see that it has a sort of clamp into the refriegerator wall

I found that the damper control was shutting down the compressor and fans. I removed the cover plate but can't figure out how to remove the damper control. The part #AP4247995 is the same as my damper control but it is fastened tight and I am afraid to pry on it but can't find any visible fasteners. Can you help so I can order the part. Thanks
