Water is leaking on freezer side we thought it was ice maker we turned water off however water is leaking still must be the defrosting cycle or what.
What is most likely causing the issue is that the drain for the defrost is frozen in which you will want to remove the rear cover in the freezer and clean as much ice as possible from the drain trough. Once this is done you will want to use hot water to flush the drain line out.
The refrigerator leaks water onto the floor in front of the freezer. There is no water in the refrigerator or freezer, only on floor. The water is there every few days, not constantly. We think the defrost pan may have a crack and would like to know how to remove it. Do you think this could be the problem? The crack is near the top of the pan and we think once it fills up to the crack the water then leaks onto the floor.
To remove the drip pan from the unit, you will need to pull the unit out and turn off the water supply. Disconnect the tubing that goes from the filter to the water valve. Remove the kickplate from the front and remove the 2 screws at the bottom of the filter housing. Remove the 1 screw that holds the wire to the side of the filter housing and remove the housing. You should then be able to pull the drain pan out and install the new one. There may be tape on the old pan. It is not necessary to install tape on the new one. Once in reassemble the unit.
where is defrost drip pan? what is the small door flap at the top right side of cabinet top?
Answer Smith, The defrost drip/drain pan W10655368 is located at the back of the refrigerator, inside and on the bottom of the compressor compartment. It is not removable unless you drop the system mounting plate. You'll need to remove the compartment cover W10211854 to access it. The only "door flap" we are aware of, is inside the refrigerator compartment on the ceiling and it is the water filter cover 67006331 , You unclip the latch and open the door to replace the water filter inside the housing.
I think the drip pan is cracked. What is the best way to remove and replace. You mention 'tilt' the fridge, which way and how much? Or lower the base, but how much? And what do I need to do for my model? Thank you. JC
To replace the drip pan on the unit you would access it from the front but would need to pull the unit out. You will want to remove the lower cover in the back and remove the water valve and disconnect the tubing that goes to the filter assembly. Make sure that the water supply is turned off. Once water tube is removed, go to the front of the unit and remove the kickplate and the 2 screws holding the water filter assembly in place. Once removed then pull the housing out. With the housing out you should be able to pull the drain pan out and install the new one and reassemble the unit.
I like to order a defrost pan to replace the old one. How do I remove the kick plate to access the pan?
Answer Hello Ani,
The kick panel simply pulls off of the retaining clips. It is much easier to remove it with both doors opened.
How do I remove defrost drain pan from this unit? Pan is leaking when defrosting (has crack on edge).
Answer Hello Arthur.
Normally the unit will have to be tilted to remove a couple of screws and the condenser fan motor and the water valve has to come out to make room for the old defrost drain pan to come... more out and the new one to go in. In some cases the compressor will have to be unbolted and carefully moved aside to get the part exchanged. This is done carefully to prevent breaking the freon lines, causing a condition where a freon certified technician would have to be hired for the sealed system repair. This is a two man job and care should be taken not to lean the unit too far which would allow the compressor oil to enter the freon lines. If this happens, the oil will stop up the capillary line causing a sealed system repair to once again be necessary.
