Is it ok to disconnect the defused until the new part arrives?
Answer Hello Kyle,
Disconnecting the diffuser will not make the unit cool properly and may make the fresh food compartment much too warm to keep anything. I would not recommend it since parts normally show up much quicker than the estimated shipping time.
Everything in frig is freezing, why?
Answer Hello Troy. Check the damper 2216112 and see if it is stuck open and if so, you will need to order the damper assembly. If not, you need to replace the temp control in the unit.
I need a new air diffuser. Can you tell me how to replace it step by step?
When you open the refrigerator door, on the upper left side there is a Phillips head screw, remove this screw and take the cover off. Remove the screw holding the damper cover in place and remove this cover. Close the refrigerator door and open the refrigerator door. Remove the cover of the icemaker assembly. Once removed you will then remove the screw on the right hand side of the icemaker underneath. Once removed, lift the cover off. Push in on the flapper on the left side and pull the icemaker assembly out. Disconnect the wire harness. Once the harness is disconnected there will be 2 screws, 1/4" hex head, that holds the duct assembly to the ceiling of the unit. Once you remove these screws then take the duct out and remove the duct that goes into the side of the damper on the rear right wall. You will then open the refrigerator door and from the freezer side, squeeze inward on the corners of the damper assembly to release. Once released pull out from the refrigerator compartment. Disconnect harness and install in reverse.
We have KitchenAid Side by Side with Ice and water in the door. The ice dispenser has stopped working but water dispenser still works. What part do we need to buy to fix this problem
Answer Hello Melanie,
You will want to check the dispenser motor to see if it is faulty. You can check this by doing a voltage check. You should have 12 vdc to the motor on the pin 1 and 2. If you have power there then you need to replace the motor 2252130.
Freezer was not defrosting, and fridge was warm
Had bad bi-metal, replaced it.
Replaced control board.
Defrost works now, but freezer and fridge are too cold now--milk is frozen solid.
Based on what I've read here, it's the thermistor and/or diffuser.
My question is, HOW do I test to see if the diffuser is opening or closing? I can't see in there. I need step by step instructions.
Answer Hello Rob.
1. Unplug refrigerator or disconnect power. 2. Remove the mounting screw and wire channel from the top of the refrigerator compartment. 3. Remove the mounting screw and air baffle cover. 4. Locate the air chute in the top of the freezer compartment. NOTE: For models in which the ice maker is turned for ice in the door, pull the ice maker forward and remove it from the product. 5. Remove the air chute mounting screw and cover. Style 1 - Remove the air chute. Then remove the air scoop from the baffle. Style 2 - Remove the air chute from the baffle.6. Release the air baffle retaining clips from the freezer compartment and push the air baffle toward the refrigerator compartment. 7. Pull the air baffle assembly into the refrigerator compartment and disconnect the wiring connector from the baffle motor. 8. Reinstall the baffle assembly in the reverse order. 9. Plug in refrigerator or reconnect power.
