My roper washer was working fine. I had a load in it and it just stopped. Check lid switch, is good. How do I check for a bad motor?
To test the motor you can turn unit on and check for 120 vac from white to blue on the motor. If there is 120 vac and the motor is not running then the motor is bad. If the motor is running then check the motor coupling.
I am looking to replace a washer motor 8528157 with a motor 8529935. Will this work? Thank you.
We would need the model number of your unit to determine which motor you will need. There may be differences between these two motors. Please post your model number with a new question on the parts page. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/modelnumber_locator.aspx
If the 3 white knubs on the side of the transmission where the motor coupler slips onto is hard to turn, does that mean that the transmission needs to be replaced?
Answer Hello Help please,
You should be able to turn the coupler one direction easily and see the shaft doing agitation and when you turn the other direction it will be harder to turn but will turn about 3/4 of a turn then the neutral drain will lock into place. If it will not spin in either direction then the transmission will have to be replaced.
