My husband place the boot on closed the door to start the washing machine now the door doesn't open.
There should be a green string that looks like weed eater string when you open the dispenser area. If you pull this string then it should release the latch for the door. You will want to check the door gasket to ensure it is properly in place but also check the door lock assembly to make sure that it was reconnected properly.
The boot seems to get mildue on it. How is the best way to clean it or does it need to be replaced?
The best way to get the mildew off is to clean with bleach water and run a cycle on the hottest wash with bleach.
My Neptune washer leaks quite a bit of water but only sometimes- usually when washing something heavy like blue jeans. The boot around the door has cracks that are broken comepletely through. The water comes from underneath the washer. How hard is it to replace these boots or do you think the problem could be in another place? Thanks
Answer Linda, the door boot 12002533 can cause the leaking you have explained. Remove power to the unit. Remove the dispenser cover. Remove doorand hinge screws. At the 6:00 position under the front lip of the boot, is a spring /steel band. Take a pick tool to pull out on the spring and remove the band assy. Fold inward on the boot to remove boot off front panel. Twist the top-front of the panel as you pull the door out. Lift the panel off the frame hinges. The front inner panel will show the top green brackets and 5/16" screws to remove and set the set aside easier for installation. Same with the 4-remaining screws to remove inner panel. There is another spring loaded band that has to be removed on the back of the boot connected to the front of the tub. You have to widen the spring to release from the boot. The New boot is set in place with the top arrow @ 12:00 aligns with the front tub cover. Use laundry liquid detergent to assist reconnect to front tub cover. When you get it refolded on the very front panel, make sure it is not twisted/folded so the door will shut evenly with the boot. Thanks.
