Washing machine works if lid is dropped. I think the lid switch is the problem. Will this come with instructions for my husband to fix? Not sure how to get the top off?

Answer Hello Beth. You will need to check and make sure the switch is tight and not loose. If it is tight, then you will need to replace the lid switch. If you will raise the control panel of the machine, there are two brass colored clips that will need to be released. Once removed, the cabinet will pull off the machine. Hope this helps.

I have a switch with this part number (661517) but it only has one wire terminal on each side. This picture indicates two terminals on one side. Is this the same part?

Answer Hello Forrest. Yes this is the same part. Some of the models have a light, which uses the other terminals. Wire yours up according to the old switch you take off. Hope this helps.

Dryer does not heat up. Change heating element and notice that no current was going to element . What next to check?

Answer Hello Jane. Check and make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer. Check and make sure the unit is not set to Air Fluff. Also check the heater and thermostats and see if they are good. You can test these with a multi-meter TJMA-DM1. They should read closed for continuity. My broken dryer lid switch is PN 687428, and has only one prong on each side or uses only two wires one on each side, this replacement has three prongs how do I use this third prong with only two wires?

Answer Hello Maura. You just leave the third prong open and do not connect a wire to it. Just connect the wires to the same two prongs on the switch. There are markings on them. NC, NO, and COM. Match the markings up on the switches.

There is a missing part on inside the door that turns off the light inside the dryer and actuate the dryer to start. Need to know how to fix and what parts I need. thanks.

Answer Thomas, The door switch 53-0148 is the part that would be needed for the light inside and to activate the unit.

My Maytag does not stop tumbling when the door is opened. What may be the cause of this symptom. What should I look for? I see the door switch, but I don't want to buy one as it is not returnable. thanks, George

Answer Hello George, The door switch has to be stuck in the closed position or the unit would not give this symptom.

How do we know whether we need just a lever or a complete door switch kit? We already changed the door latch but the dryer is still not working.. I did notice that the metal switch piece broke off... How do we remove the top panel to replace the switch lever?

Over the weekend, lifting the lid (only water running) and closing halted operation. Inspected the panel and found the 1A in-line fuse blown. I exercised the switch and the balancer, replaced the fuse. Started drawing water again and closed the lid and system stopped. Found fuse "violently" blew this time. Could the switch be causing the fuse to blow? THANKS!

Answer Hello Roy, If the switch is shorted to ground it could certainly blow the fuse. You want to check the switch using a volt meter to see if there is a spike when the lid is closed.

My Kenmore dryer large capacity white color. When click start dryer for 60 minutes, it run sometime until to 40' or 50' it off. Try to turn it back on, continue run for 20' and it off again. I did clean exhaust pipe, change thermal fuse, but it still the same. Now just only one suspect is the door switch may loose made it no contact when dryer working. If we replace door switch is it correct? (part #3392266). How do we remove door switch? Do we need to remove front panel. Any guide we appreciate. Of course we will buy part from yours.

Answer Hello Everdave, Though it could be possible that a door switch would cause issue, since the unit runs for 40 to 50 minutes to start it would not be likely that this would be caused by the door switch. The chance is more likely that the motor is overheating and tripping the thermal on the motor. This would be a bad motor 279787.

The drum spins until you put clothes in making it slow or stop. Is that a belt problem or the motor?

Answer Hello Dave, Since the belt is riding on a spring loaded idler pulley, if the belt is the issue, you would get a loud squealing noise from the belt slippage. I would diagnose the motor in the case of a no noise drum slow down.
