My dish washer won't latch and the power won't come on when I do get it to latch. What could the problem be.?

Answer Andre, It sounds like you may have a bad door latch assembly. The door should latch easily. Check to make sure that the strike is meeting up with the door latch properly. If not then it may be that the strike is not making good contact with the latch to activate switches.

Hi, the child lock light blinks 3 times. I turned off the circuit breaker and tried to reset the dishwasher. Nothing works....will I need to order a complete door panel for 150.00?

Answer Hello Dan, The child lock blinking indicates that more than 1 of the keypads is stuck. You can check your connection of the ribbon cable to the control board. If the connection looks good with no corrosion or bad connection then you will need to replace the keypad.

2 Questions: First- I can't find this model# on the Whirlpool site, Google or your site as a correct model #. Second- The washing machine is running a full cycle but the door is not opening to release the soap. I pulled the door handle switches and there is a little discoloring on the metal connectors but nothing extreme. Do you think it's the switches or the timer? I have the part number for the switches but what is the part number for the timer if that's what you think it is? Thanks

Answer Trey, Since your dishwasher detergent and rinse dispenser are a "mechanical" operation, you'll need to dismantle the door assembly and control panel and check the timer, timer cam and cam follower. Thanks for reply. I figured try and pull machine out from under counter and put back together. I had checked door switches prior to this. The machine now works. The problem was it wasn't closing properly. Is there a kit that allows you to install under granite countertop? It was screwed into formica previously...

during cycle dishwasher stopped and lights were blinking. i figured push cancel/drain to reset. machine started to drain then shut off and now cancel/drain light blinking. bad door switch? also, how old is this unit?

Answer Steve, You're just a little off target, a faulty door switch would distrupt power to the control and you'd have no lights and the unit would do nothing at all. You most likely have a fault in the control panel/key pad assembly 8051721 " If the control detects that a key is stuck in the depressed position, dishwasher operation will be suspended and the control will flash the light for that key until the condition is corrected. If a key without a light is stuck or multiple keys are stuck, the control will flash" You will also need to reset the control "HI TEMP WASH, AIR DRY, HI TEMP WASH, AIR DRY or POWER SCOUR, AIR DRY, POWER SCOUR, AIR DRY If the sequence is entered after starting a cycle, the Rapid Advance feature is turned on, which allows the operator to manually advance the currently running cycle, interval by interval, by pressing the Pots & Pans/Antibacteria or Heavy/Soak & Scrub key." and allow the diagnostic cycle to run the complete test mode. I ordered a new door switch kit today and i already disassembled the wires, however, I did not mark the wires. can you tell me what the wiring diagram is. There are 2 wires that go to the control board and 2 wires go under the unit - black goes to the power supply and the white with a purple line goes under the unit near the motor.

Answer Hello, you will want to look at both door switches 4318273. You will need a Multi Meter: TJMA-DMT3 to test the switch, it should read closed when you press it in and open when you release it. If both switches are reading good you might have a defective timer. Unfortunately the timer is no longer available, sorry.

There is a flat bracket and comes from console at top center and fits over door when closed. This bracket drops down when door is open and blocks door from closing unless you hold it up with a knive or screw driver. When you hold it up and allow the door to close, the washer works fine. Is this bracket part of the door switch?
