My dish washer drain pump stopped working. I replaced with part # 6-917641. Once I connect the power, the drain pump started running. Initially I thought, there might be some water inside and it's attempting to drain. The drain pump sound is there always. When I start a cycle, I hear water gushing sound and motor starting sound. At the end of the cycle, there is no water inside. That means drain pump is working. However it's not stopping at the end of the cycle. I have to leave the door open or cut the power to turn off pump. So far I ran two( 2) complete cycles. Once without any dishes and next time with dishes. The dishes are not cleaned. What could be the problem? Are there any diagnostics, I can perform? Thanks in advance.
Answer SK, Yes there are diagnostic tests you can perform. You will need to remove the lower kickplate and access panel from the front of the dishwasher. you should find the tech data information sheet attached to the backside of the kickplate, in a plastic bag, if it hasn't been lost or misplaced. This dishwasher circuitry isn't too complicated, as long as there is power to the dishwasher and the door is latched, there is 120 VAC supplied to all the components in the dishwasher. The control board controls the neutral leg of the circuit in order for the motors etc. to operate. You will need to check the wiring harness, especially the gray wire from the control board to the drain pump for shorts or pinches to the frame or cabinet. Especially at the bottom of the door/ and in the door liner. If all's OK, the control board would be the next and best option.
My Maytag dishwasher works well but it does not drain water. i checked the bottom and drain pipe, nothing is clogged. I also changed Wash Impeller Assembly. Dishwasher does not drain.
Answer Manoj, You do have a separate drain pump 6-917641 located in the right rear area of the tub. you didn't mention if you could hear the motor running or not, but the test isn't that hard to perform. The test information is listed on the tech data information sheet located in a plastic bag taped to the backside of the kickplate panel. Drain Pump The Drain Pump will drain water from the Dishwasher in various cycles. If a failure is suspected, the entire Pump Assembly needs to be replaced. 1. Disconnect power to the machine. 2. Remove Support and Toe Panel. 3. Disconnect lead wire from Pump Assembly. 4. Disconnect drain hose from Pump Assembly. 5. Remove Torx™ screw through bushing in Pump Mounting Plate.6. Rotate Pump Assembly to unlock from Tub. It can be difficult, but in most cases you can access and remove the drain pump from the dishwasher without removing the dishwasher from the cabinet.
When dishwasher is complete, there is about 3/4 of an inch of water left in the bottom of the dishwasher. What's up with that?
Answer Hello Art. Check and see if the pump is clogged. We will need your model number to help you more with this. Please call 1-877-477-7278 or post your model number with a new question on the parts page. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/modelnumber_locator.aspx
I can't get the bracket, (number 17), to seat properly on the pump.
Answer Hello Lamar,
Try removing both from the unit and fastening the bracket to the pump off of the unit and then installing the two as an assembly.
