I purchased Drive Gear Kit from your company. Do you have a picture how it goes on? It was broken in pieces when I took the bottom off the compactor.
Answer Ken, Here's some basic help "Power Screws and Sprockets Purpose The ram rides up and down on the power screws as they turn. Removal
1. Disconnect power. 2. Lay the compactor on its front; be careful not to damage the loose switch wires and switches. 3. Remove bottom panel (five screws.) 4. Remove power screw flange screws from base. 5. Slide out or unthread the power screws. NOTE: BE CAREFUL NOT TO LOSE THE RAM STOP BUSHINGS. ALSO, TAKE CARE NOT TO GET THE LUBRICANT FROM THE POWER SCREWS ON OTHER SURFACES.
Motor Assembly Purpose 1. The motor assembly consists of the: a. Centrifugal switch—which completes a circuit to start the motor windings. b. Motor—which provides the power to move the ram in the appropriate direction. c. Drive gear—which interlocks with the driven gear. Removal—Motor and Centrifugal Switch 1. Disconnect power. 2. Lay compactor on its front; be careful not to damage the loose switch wires. 3. Remove bottom panel. 4. Loosen motor bracket screws. 5. Slide motor forward. 6. Remove driven gear and sprocket assembly.
7. Remove motor bracket from base. 8. Disconnect harness wires from centrifugal switch. 9. Remove wires from centrifugal switch.
10. Remove centrifugal switch from motor by removing the two mounting screws. NOTE: USE CAUTION WHEN REMOVING THE SWITCH, BECAUSE THE SWITCH IS IN TWO PIECES." This is the best we can do without an e mail address.
Our compactor works fine except that it makes a awful noise and vibrates a lot during both cycles. Any sugestions?
Answer Hello Bill. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the drive gear 882699 or the drive rod may be bad on the unit. You need to check and see if there is any broken teeth on the unit. Also, make sure the shaft is good and tight that drives the ram in the unit.
I need a large gear at the bottom of my compactor. The gear is broken. The center hole is shaped like a stop sign not round like the one you display.
Answer Hello Ron! The drive gear kit part number 882699 is the correct replacement gears used on your Kenmore model 665.13613101. The (small) motor drive gear is held in place with a roll pin. The (large) driven gear is clipped into pace on the plate shaft by a e- clip. The part will also include further instructions on how to install the parts in the kit. Thanks!
How do you get the pin out of the small gear shaft?
Answer Jeff, You will need to "tap" it out, using a hammer and a small "punch" or drill bit, the same size as the opening. Once you have the roll pin tapped out 1/2 to 3/4 of the way, you can use a pair of needle nose pliers to remove the pin, using a twisting motion. Good Luck and Thanks
I have the same question. Hexed shaft on my compactor. How does the round opening on the gear fit onto the hexed shaft. Do the instructions explain how to do this without altering the appliance?
Answer Hello Ken! The drive gear kit includes both gears, pin spring, c ring, ram stop, ram cam and the instructions. The instructions will give you the information needed to properly install this part on your product that has been suggested to fit from the manufacture. Thanks.
