The rear seal came off. I've ordered the replacement but will it damage the dryer if I run it without the rear seal?
Mary for Model Number 280114
Answer Hello Mary,
Do not run the dryer without the seal on it! This will damage the drum and the rear bulkhead. This would be a very costly repair!
How do I replace the rear drum felt seal? Do I need to take anything apart? Thx.
Mary for Model Number Item Number: AP3790434; Manufacturer's Number: 280114
Answer Mary, Yes, you will have to take the dryer apart and remove the tumbler. The seal needs to be glued to the outer surface of the tumbler with "hi temp" adhesive, which comes with the seal. If you can supply us with a model number, we can supply some nmore information. It's not that hard a repair to perform. Thanks
This is my first time to work and replace the front drum seal. I received the parts I ordered but it did not come with intuctions. Where can I find a manual or video instuctions on how to replace the front drum seal ?
Efren G. for Model Number GGW9250PWI Whirlpool gas dryer.
Answer Hi Efren. We will try to explain it as best as we can. Remove the power. Remove the lower panel . Remove the top. Remove the front console / control by unplugging the molex connectors and the screws the attach it . It may need to be gently unclasped with a screwdriver where the back top and sides of the panel clip together. There may also be a hidden screw above the door at 12;00 area. Then lay the panel aside and protect it from scratching. This will give access to the front door panel upper and lower screws. Once these are removed, you may need to look inside the back of the sides to see if there are any bolts going into the back of the front panel sides to remove. Once you have the front panel loose, you will need to disconnect the door switch connector. Lay the panel aside protected. Then concentrate on reaching into the lower RT.corner and as your arm is going over the top of the blower wheel, it will reach in the back of the motor area and find the belt and belt tensioner. Pull up on the pulley and release the belt as you notice the rib side of the belt is into the motor grooves an riding on the drum at a certain area. Now remove the inner front panel that the felt in question part # 280114 is riding on. Once it is removed you then let the tub lay down gently as noticing the rear of the tub felt rides on the outside of the tub. Then use a putty knife and scrape the old felt off. Use the glue liberally and apply the new felt. Let it dry for 24 hrs. before using the unit and keep the door open with the power off so the vapors will evaporate in time also. Reassemble in reverse. Thank You.
How difficult is it to replace the front drum felt seal that has stretched and is now loose?
Travis W. for Model Number 110.68732700
Answer Hi Travis. You will need to also inspect the drum rollers to see if they are not worn out. Part # W10314173. Remove the power. Remove or lift the top. Remove the front panel and make sure the door switch wires are noted to re-connect. Then remove the belt tension and note how it is threaded through the motor pulley and the belt tensioner. Scrape the old felt off with a putty knife and glue the new one on. Reassemble in reverse. Do not use the unit for 24 hrs before it drys. Thank You.
