I am occasionally getting small brown streaks on some items. They are not there when the clothes come out of the washer. They are one to three or four inches long and less than a quarter inch wide, light brown or tan in color. They can be washed out. Any thoughts on where they might br coming from? Could it be that they are dragging in the gap where the drum seals are?
Answer Bob, Yes, you're on target. Articles can get "pinched between the drum and the bulkhead and can come out the dryer with the marks as you described. There are several things to check. Make sure the dryer isn't overloaded, the drum seals aren't torn, damaged or loose from the tub. Check and make sure the drum rollers and shafts are perpendicular to the bulkhead. The drum isn't perfectly round, but should not have more than a 1/2 inch deflection in the high spot.
Clothes take a long time to dry. How can I tell if my drum seal is bad?
Answer Hello William. You will have to remove the drum to inspect the seals. It sounds like the venting system is clogged or kinked. You will need to check the vent and clean it out. Be sure and clean the vent pipe and the dryer air duct assembly. If the air flow is not good, the unit will retain moist air causing the clothes not to dry. Try running the unit with the vent unhooked from the back of the dryer and see if the dryer works properly.
Do you ship to Britain?
Need a Drum roller and Drum felt seal.
Answer Hello Peter. Unfortunately, we are unable to ship outside of the US or Puerto Rico at this time. We will need a US physical address to ship parts to.
Can I use this Felt seal on my Whirlpool Thin Twin? if so how do I go about taking the drum out of the dryer? Thank you!
Answer Hello Ameen,
For the model number you listed, you will need to order part number 3359587 for the lower seal and the upper seal uses the front bearing and seal kit 279264.
Is the rear drum seal the same as the one on the front of the dryer?
Answer Hello Shaunna. Yes, the front and rear felt seal is the same felt seal 280114.
The rear seal came off. I've ordered the replacement but will it damage the dryer if I run it without the rear seal?
Answer Hello Mary,
Do not run the dryer without the seal on it! This will damage the drum and the rear bulkhead. This would be a very costly repair!
