I would like to test the door switch. The switch does not have NC or NO markings? Can you help with this? Thanks
Answer Hello Way,
This is actually two switches in one. The wire that is on the opposite side of the switch should be the common. Testing from this terminal to the other two connections should show continuity on one and no electrical contact to the other. Activating the switch should reverse the readings, (in other words, the one that had continuity with no resistance should read open and the other will read no resistance).
When I push button to start dryer, nothing happens. Buttons light up but dyer wont start. What could cause this to happen?
The first thing that you will want to check is the door switch to make sure that it is ok. If it checks ok then you will want to check the thermal fuse on the blower housing. If the thermal fuse is showing open when checking continuity then it is faulty and would need to be replaced and then you would want to check the venting to make sure that there is no blockage.
When I press the power on button dryer does not go on. Work earlier but went to restart and nothing.
You will want to access the back of the unit and test the thermal fuse for continuity. If there is no continuity then you will need to replace the thermal fuse. If the fuse is blown then you will want to check the venting to the outside of the home as this could cause the thermal fuse to blow. Also test the light switch to make sure that it is good. A continuity test can also be done on the light switch.
How do I remove the top of a Whirlpool dryer in order to replace the door switch, the lint panel is in the door.
Answer Hello Rose. You remove the toe panel by releasing the clips with a flat blade. Then remove the screws off the bottom of front panel and pull outward to remove the panel and replace the door switch. Make sure the power is off on the unit.
