Dryer won't start. I already replaced the door switch and the thermal fuse. What else could be the problem?
Answer Hello Chris. If the thermal fuse and the door switch are good, you will need to test the timer and the motor on the unit and see which part has the power, but is not working. If there is power to the motor, and it does not run, you will replace the motor in the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
If door won't stay shut could it be the door switch assembly?
Answer Hello Andy. No, you will need to order the door latch kit 279570 for the unit.
Please provide instructions how to remove the top panel for whirlpool dryer LGQ8611LW1
Answer Hello Sam, if you're trying to install the door switch 3406107, we have a video on our website with step by step instructions. It also shows how to remove the top panel. Just click on the link. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/whirlpool-dryer-door-switch-3406107-ap3132865.html
How do I change the door switch? I just watched a video showing how to change a lesser expensive version of the dryer. I know how to change that switch as I worked for Whirlpool appliances until retiring 10 years ago. I am guessing the top comes up but because of the cost of these appliances I don't want to risk damaging the top. Thanks for your help. GEQ9800PW1
Answer Hello Bob,
The model number you provided came up as invalid. I modified it a bit so it this isn't a GEQ9800PW1, please let us know by re-posting and we will do this thing right. Before beginning, please flip the breaker off so you don't get a shock.
As a model number GEQ9800PW1, the bottom panel will be removed and when the two screws in the bottom of the upper panel is removed, the upper panel will pivot up and the clips will release.
Please let us know if we mis-interpreted the model number, since I know that if we guessed wrong, the procedure is most likely different.
Know how to remove the switch but having problem getting it to pull apart......help please
Answer Stoll. You may need a small flat blade screw driver, to press on the connector lock on the harness connector in order to separate the wires from the switch harness, or you can also pry the connector apart, if needed. They can be very difficult at times, but you'll get it. Thanks
My harness has only 2 wires. The new switch has a 3 wire harmess. It will not work. What do I do to make it work?
Answer Hello Lee,
The switch you received has the extra terminal for a light if the unit had been so equipped. Since it didn't, you hook the wires to the terminals which read open when the switch is open and reads closed when you actuate the switch (close it). The other terminal doesn't need anything on it for the unit to operate properly.
Dose this switch control the heat?
Answer Hello Steve. No, if the door switch 3406107 is bad, the dryer does not run. It does not control the heat of the unit.
