The dryer operates as it is supposed to, however, when you open the door, the drum light does not come on. I have replaced the bulb and that doesn't fix the problem. Could the switch be bad and the dryer still runs but the bulb won't come on when the door is open?

Hello, I have a Kenmore electric dryer that I am trying to replace the safety latch on because currently the dryer continues to spin even with the door Open! I ordered the latch from you and watched the video. I am unable to pry open the top of the dryer. It looks like I do not have the locking tabs 2inches in from the corner to unlock the top. Can you please send me some step by step instuctions for my dryer? It is a front loader with the lint screen in the bottom of the door. Thanks for the help! - Tom

Answer Tom, The 2 clips on either side are spring clips that you would use a flat blade and push in on to release the main top.

Dryer won't start. I already replaced the door switch and the thermal fuse. What else could be the problem? Thank you

Answer Hello Chris. If the thermal fuse and the door switch are good, you will need to test the timer and the motor on the unit and see which part has the power, but is not working. If there is power to the motor, and it does not run, you will replace the motor in the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. When the dryer door is opened the dryer continues to run and the interior drum light does not come on. I am assuming that both of these functions are controlled by the door switch. Would you suggest replacing the door switch to try and resolve these two issues? Thank you.

I think that the door switch is bad. It wont run. Has been working until this morning. I am handicapped, it is hard for me to check it out. I replaced it several tears ago. Is it the problem again?

Getting power to the door switch but dryer will not run. Switch seems to not have any spring tension when manually pressed. Does this mean it is broken and do you think a new switch will solve the problem? Thanks in advance. Fred

How do I change the door switch? I just watched a video showing how to change a lesser expensive version of the dryer. I know how to change that switch as I worked for Whirlpool appliances until retiring 10 years ago. I am guessing the top comes up but because of the cost of these appliances I don't want to risk damaging the top. Thanks for your help. GEQ9800PW1

Answer Hello Bob, The model number you provided came up as invalid. I modified it a bit so it this isn't a GEQ9800PW1, please let us know by re-posting and we will do this thing right. Before beginning, please flip the breaker off so you don't get a shock. As a model number GEQ9800PW1, the bottom panel will be removed and when the two screws in the bottom of the upper panel is removed, the upper panel will pivot up and the clips will release. Please let us know if we mis-interpreted the model number, since I know that if we guessed wrong, the procedure is most likely different.
