How do we replace the belt on this model. We have removed the front panel and door unit. We have removed the broken belt. Now, how do we get the new belt around the drum and pulley. It looks like a lot more disassembly needs to be done. In one answer, "shroud" removal is mentioned. I cannot find a part named "shroud". Also, where does the other end of the spring attach?

Can you tell me whether part Y312959 will work with the LDG180? A technician today told me he could no longer get a belt but when I just chatted with a lady at Maytag, she gave me this part number. I would like to be sure. The dryer is about 30 years old. Thanks!

I replaced the dryer drum belt and it turns with with one finger pressure, but the motor needs help to get started and shuts down after 1 minute and the motor smokes. Is the belt on wrong or is the motor bad?

I recently changed the belt because my tenant thought it was slipping(it was). With the new belt the slipping seams worse. The belt is on correctly tension seams adequate. The old belt has a red rubber backing facing the drum and the new belt has a red fiber backing facing the drum. Is this the correct belt?

1. My dryer has the lint filter in front on the door panel and different than what is shown on the video. You did not show which side of the belt to face the drum. 2. I noticed in the diagrams for Maytag the smooth side faced the drum but in all other dryers the smooth side face away from the drum. Please explain. 3. I have this dryer for 30 years and the tenant used it may be twice a month as he was commuting. Is the newer dryers more energy efficient and should I get a new one not that the belt is broken?
