It is taking three hours for clothes to dry. Is that the the door seal or drum seal? Thanks
Answer Hello Michelle. It sounds like you may have a defrost problem with the unit. Check and see if there is any frost build up on the back wall of the freezer. If so, you will need to test the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. If both parts are good, you will need to replace the defrost timer. Once the problem is repaired, you will need to thaw out the ice on the coils before the unit will operate properly. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
My garments get stuck between seal and drum. How can I fix the problem ?
Answer Hi Virginia. The felts at the front inner panel and the rear bulkhead need changed. Dryer Drum Felt Seal -Part # 33001807. Used on both the front and rear side of the dryer drum. For adhesive order Y055980 (you will need 2 adhesives). Also check the rear tumbler rollers part # 12001541 and shafts part # 6-3129480 to see if they are predominantly the cause of this issue. Once the rollers are worn, then the felts will wear. Always the roller and shaft above the heater will wear badly because of the heat (normal). Thank You.
The dryer sounds like a seal or a dog on start up but once the burner ignites it quiets down. Is this the felt seals?
Answer Hello Edward. You will need to check and see if the rollers 12001541 are tight and sticking on the unit. If so, you will need to replace the rollers in the dryer. Hope this helps.
I need to replace the rear felt seal. How do I access/replace it?
Answer Jan, The part you should be orderring is: 280114 this is the correct part for your model number, that you supplied. To access the rear drum seal, you will need to Unplug the power cord, remove the lower front access panel by prying it out towards you at the top, with a putty knife or screw driver. Loosen but do not remove the 2 scews(one on each side) holding the lower portion of the panel to the front frame of the cabinet. you will need to insert the putty knife into the seam, between the top panel and the front panel top approximately 2 inches in from the corner and press in on the spring clip and lift up on the corner and raise the top. Reach into the cabinet and disconnect the wires from the door switch assembly, check inside of the top front panel and remove the 2 screws holding the panel to the frame, then lift up and out on the panel. you should have access to the front bulkhead assembly, remove the four(4) screws securing the bulkhead to the cabinet front frame , and lift up and out, a couple of inches, the drum will shift forward and down, once the drum rollers have cleared the drum. Now make note as to the routing of the drum drive belt( it'll make the installation easier). Lift up on the idler pulley, to release the tension on the belt, and remove the belt from the motor drive pulley. You can now slide the drum out the front of the cabinet and perform the seal replacement. You want to clean the seal area as best possible with alcohol, apply a bead of the adhesive to the drum surface and the inner surface of the seal, allow to set for a few minutes(until tacky) Then install the seal. and reverse the procedure abd test the operation. There may be some residual odor from the adhesive for a couple of loads of laundry. Good Luck.
I will be replacing the felt seal on the front of the drum. Can you please explain to me how to remove the top cover to access the area to be repaired? I have removed the front cover easily, but the top looks to be more complicated.
Answer Hello David. Once the door and front cover are removed, there are two clips on the top corners that will need to be removed. You will remove the screws securing the clips and remove the clips. Then the top of the unit will lift upwards. Hope this helps.
Will installing new felt strips eliminate the sound of metal on metal as the drum turns?
Answer Hello Carl. Yes, if the felt is worn and the dryer drum is rubbing, the new felt 33001807 will fix the problem. Hope this helps.
I need directions to putting on front felt seal?
Answer Hello Tom. You will need to take the door off, the front and the top panel off. You should now have enough room to remove and install the new felt seal. Here is a link to the parts diagram: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5170654&diagram_id=28472150#d28472150 . Thanks
