My dryer is not heating. What parts do I need to fix this?
James H
Answer Hello James. The first thing you need to check is the ignitor. 279311 Check and make sure it is glowing. If it is ok, then test all the thermal fuses and make sure they are closed or 0 with a multi-meter. The flame sensor will read closed as well. If all of this is good, then you may have bad coils. Hope this helps.

How do I change the dryer ingniter?
James P
Answer Hello James. Lift the top of the dryer by removing the two screws under the lint filter, and releasing the clips in the front corners. Then remove the front panel of the dryer. Once removed you will see the ignitor by the burner. Remove the screws holding the ignitor in place. Be careful installing the ignitor, these are easy to break. Hope this helps.

How do I get the front off my Sears Gas Dryer, Model 11077092600 so I can test and if needed, replace the igniter?
James for Model Number 11077092600
Answer Hello James. Here are the steps to take the cabinet off of your dryer.
Use a screwdriver to remove the retaining screws at the front of the control console. Flip the console back into its service position.
Use a screwdriver to remove the three retaining screws on the top rear of the dryer. These screws are directly under the area where the control panel sits.
Slide the top panel toward you to release the front and rear retaining tabs. Pull the top of the dryer off and out of the work area.
Locate the door switch and disconnect the wiring harness from the switch. The door switch is located inside the front right corner of the dryer cabinet. Press in on the plastic locking tab to disconnect the wiring harness.
Insert a putty knife between the top of the toe panel and the bottom of the front panel and locate the retaining clip. Press in on the clip and pull the toe panel away from the dryer.
Open the dryer door and remove the lint screen. Close the dryer door. Pull the two door springs down and release it from the base of the dryer.
Use a screwdriver to remove the two screws that attach the lint duct to the dryer. Remove the lint duct and set it away from the work area.
Use a screwdriver to remove the retaining screws at the top and bottom of the front panel. Press in on the locking tab to the wiring harness just under the inside lip of the front panel. Lift up the front panel and place it out of the way.
Use a socket wrench to remove the screws that secure the back panel to the side panels. Pull the side panel out and slide them toward the front to release the sides from the bottom tabs.

where is the ignitor on my whirlpool gas dryer
Sue for Model Number lgq8100kq1
Answer Hello Sue.The igniter is located next to the burner. I have included a link, if you copy and paste it in your browser it will show you a blow up of your burner. Part number 4 on the diagram is your igniter. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=266125&diagram_id=28133245#d28133245 To access the igniter lift the top of the dryer by removing the two screws under the lint filter, and releasing the clips in the front corners. Then remove the front panel of the dryer. Once removed you will see the ignitor by the burner. Remove the screws holding the ignitor in place. Be careful installing the ignitor, these are easy to break. Hope this helps.

Everything works on the dryer...except I am getting no heat...I am uncertain which part might actually be bad....I seen where I should check for the igniter to be glowing, but I do not see it....How do I determine if it is just a bad coil, or something more.
Jeff for Model Number Whirlpool LGQ9858LWO
Answer Hello Jeff. You can test the coils and thermal cut-offs. You can test these with a multi-meter TJMA-DM1. The two prong coil will read 1,000-1,300 ohms, and the three prong coil will read 1,300-1,400 ohms across prongs 1&2, and 500-600 ohms across prongs 1&3. Also the thermal cut-offs will read closed for continuity. Hope this helps.

Ignitor glows but it takes two or more trys before it ignites.
Ray for Model Number Whirlpool LG7681XSW2
Answer Ray,
You would check continuity on the ignitor it should show closed or resistance check should be between 50 and 500 ohms. If open then ignitor or outside ohm range then it is bad. Check your flame switch, it should read closed and if open it is bad. Check gas valves for continuity and thermal fuses and thermostats for continuity. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
The dryer works but no heat.
The thermal fuse was bad, would this cause the no heat condition and the ignitor not to glow?
What would blow the thermal fuse? In what order should they be checked?
Joseph for Model Number rgs6745pq0
Answer Hello Joseph. If the thermal fuse is bad, the unit will not run. It sounds like the thermal cut-off or high limit is bad and needs to be replaced. This is usually caused by a bad vent on the unit.
