Inside the drum of the dryer there is a "kidney" shaped vent that has many holes (dryer lint filter cover?); this vent has changed color due to excessive heat/use. Frequently, I will dry some clothes on Low Heat and there will be burns in the clothing where it looks like the clothing has been melted by this vent. Can I refinish it to prevent this from happening in the future or must I replace it?
Answer Quitman, The best guess, since you forgot to attach a proper or complete model number, the component you're describing should be the heat inlet duct, in the back wall / bulkhead of the dryer tumbler. The grille has a tendency to discolor due to fabric softener and chemicals left in the clothes after the wash process. You don't really have to replace or refinish the assembly. In most cases, you can remove the build up using a damp "Scotch Brite" pad, or steel wool, but you need to be careful, you don't want to remove the painted surface from the bulkhead.

Hello, question regarding model #CEDC392PQ0. I have a Crosley dryer and the filter is loose. Which part should be replace? I see that both parts are sold separately.
Answer Hello Mellinda,
The cover 8531967 of the filter just clips into place and helps to hold the filter in. If the lint filter is loose then this may be the problem if the clips are worn or broken.
