The dryer was running the stopped and now will not turn on at all. I have checked the power and there is power running to all the the parts of the dryer including the start button.
Answer Eddie, Most if not all Whirlpool built Kenmore/Sears dryer have a thermal fuse 3390719 located on the blower housing inside the dryer. If the thermal fuse fails or "opens" due to an overheat situation, the dryer will not start or run, until the fuse is replaced. That's where your next check should be.
This is slightly different than the original but it should work per the manufacturer. How can it be installed to work in my unit.
Answer Hello Richard,
This should fit in the opening and turn about 1/4 of a turn to snap into position. Then the wires will connect same as the old one.
My dryer was working fine prior to not working. My daughter put a load in the dryer and push the button to start it and nothing happened. I felt heat when the selector was on one of the cycles, but the tub was not spinning. I'm able to hear the timer ticking and the dryer isn't equipped with a light. I'm wondering if the push to start button element went bad.
Answer Charles, It doesn't sound like a failed start switch. It does sound more like a broken belt, or a defect in the motor. " I felt heat when the selector was on one of the cycles, but the tub was not spinning". There should be no heat in the dryer drum, unless the motor is running, this would indicate a broken belt, with the motor running, or a "stuck" centrifugal switch in the motor.
