Dryer was making noise, now the motor won't start.
Answer Hello Patrick. Check and make sure the drum is not locked up. If not, you will need to replace the motor is the noise was coming from it. Also, make sure the thermal fuse and belt are good before replacing the motor. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
The drum in my dryer as reversed from what the video shows. The metal tab was toward the back. Should I put it back n the same way or reverse it?
Answer Hello Robert,
The manufacturer says it will make a difference and it should be changed. As a field tech for over 20 years, I never saw this make any difference.
My plug on my dryer is melting I have tried my washing on the same outlet no problem what would cause a chord on this model to become hot and melt ?
Answer Michael, This style dryer draws 15 to 16 amps when it is running and heating Properly. Loose or damaged wires can cause the amperage draw to increase, as well as additional run and heating due to a restricted vent. Higher amp draw or prolonged run times can cause the line cord to get hot. You also need to check the outlet and wiring to the outlet terminals.
I need a roller kit for this dryer. Do you think I need the axles too? Thanks
Answer Hello Joe,
When you have the rollers off, use a dry paper towel to wipe away any residue from the shafts. If they appear to be worn, you can normally loosen the retaining nut and rotate the shaft at least one third of a turn. This puts a fresh, unworn area of the shaft in the area of wear and will avoid the necessity of replacing them. As a note, do not lubricate the rollers unless you do it with a dry lubricant such as corn starch or baby powder.
