Whirlpool french door refrigerator. Leaking outside on top left hand corner every time icemaker calls for water. Never saw a set up like this? Can't seem to get icemaker out? Not like others that have two screws that you have to remove. Started acting this way after water main leak that filled up filter. Replaced it then this happened. Water to door still works. just not making icecubes as its dumping water out the top.
To remove the icemaker, on the left hand lower wall of the ice compartment there is a cover. To remove this cover you will use a small blade screwdriver in the small hole on the cover and there is a release. Once released the cover will pull out. With the cover off you will want to disconnect the wire harness under the cover and there is a lever on the on the icemaker that you will release. Once released pull on the icemaker and pull the complete unit out. Based on what you are describing it sounds like the tubing for the icemaker fill has broken and you would need part number 67006317 to replace. In order to replace the tubing you will have to remove the shelves in the refrigerator and remove the cover over the water tank. You will remove the square cover on the top of the unit and pull out the tubing. The tubing is connected to the water valve above the water tank.
My kenmore fridge is not getting water to the icemaker. It does get water to the water dispenser. Is this the inlet valve?
Answer Hello Mike. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
my unit is working but is not making ice cubes I checked the water flow and have it up to the solenoid and from there it's not going into the fridge, what could be the problem, i opened the solenoid to check if it was clogged and blew into the part and it had nothing in it, can some one help me wtih this
Answer Victor, The solenoid on the valve has probably got a failed circuit. If the coil does not activate and lift the plunger, the water will not enter the valve, no matter how clean it is. Replace the water valve 2188542 then check and make sure you have 120 VAC on the wires that attach to the "Green" solenoid, when the ice maker reaches the fill portion of the cycle (rake arm in the 1 to 2 o'clock position).
My fridge overflows water even with water lever up would duel water inlet?
Answer Hello Ken. If the water is leaking into the unit, you will need to order and replace the valve on the unit.
