The power for the dryer works fine, and the displays work, but the dryer will not start. It is only 6 years old, hardly used. Last time used 2 weeks ago was great. We have had terrible electric storms lately. I wonder if there was a power surge. Could it need a new control board?

Answer Hello Michael,
The first thing you should do is turn the breaker off. Now turn it back on and try the dryer. If one side of the 240V breaker trips, it will not start. If the other side trips, it will start but not heat. If you do no good doing this, open the door and hold in the door switch. Press the start button and turn the tub by hand. If it starts, the motor 279787 will require replacement. If it doesn't, test the door switch W10318609. If the door switch tests good, you will need to pull the wiring diagram and troubleshoot to see if voltage is getting to the control. If it is, you need to see if voltage is leaving the control. If it isn't, the control W10111606 will then require replacement.
There is also the possibility that the installer that installed the dryer cord didn't tighten the nuts sufficiently and the wire has burned off. You should also check the prongs on the cord for burned spots which indicate the receptacle is worn out and requires replacement.
The dryer wont heat up no power going to heating elm/ and ck. thermostat and all the thermostats. How do I know if this power is bad?

Answer Hello John. You need to test and make sure there is 240 volts coming to the dryer at the terminal block and not at the outlet. If so, turn the unit on and test the relay on the power board and see if it is sending 120 volts down to the heater. If not, replace the control board W10111606. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
Is the AP3965135 the control board for this dryer? Does this need to be replaced if you get a "F-01" code? Is it located in the control panel?
Brian for Model Number medz600tw1
Answer Brian, You're on the right track, the "F-01" code dos indicate an issue with the primary control board "“F-01” flashes when there is a primary control failure. Replace the machine control electronics." W10111606 is the control board you will need. It is located on the the left side interior of the cabinet, under the top. heres some information " 1. Unplug dryer or disconnect power. 2. Turn off gas supply to dryer. 3. Remove the rear screws from the top cover of the dryer. 4. Lift the rear of the cover, pull back, and remove the cover from the dryer. 5. Remove the front machine control electronics (MCE) bracket screw.6. Remove the screw from the MCE, unhook the tabs from the bracket, and remove the electronics. 7. Disconnect the wire connectors from the MCE board at P8, P9, P13, P14, and the black and red wires from relay K2.(you might find it easier to label the connections as well). Good Luck and Thanks
