I received my new dual element and connected it per the indtructions. Everything works, but the center element does not turn red, even on the hi setting. I'm wondering if I could have the two wires (single red and tan) switched. since there are no terminal numbers for the two terminals they are on and the terminals are different than the original element that was removed.
Answer Don, It could be a "crossed" wire, at the new burner. Try this: At the burner sensor(box) terminal 2B should have a single Red wire( goes back to the multi plug) terminal 1B should have a double Red wire attached to it(common to all the 1B termianls) 2B should have a single Red wire going to the "hot surface" indicator light. On the side of the element, The termianl with the "jumper" wire attached to the sensor terminal is the "common" to both element ribbons, The Yellow wire should attach to the "outer" ribbon element terminal, and the Tan wire will attach to the "inner" ribbon element terminal.
Replaced Dual burner element on the Ceran top. Controls activate separate portions (inner/outer) of the element correctly but come on maximum regardless of the temperation knob setting. Did I wire it up incorrectly (temp lights work fine)?
Answer Hello Peterhman,
The way the unit should be wired is as follows: Double red to 1b, single red from indicator lights to 2b, single red to 1a from hi limit, Yellow from connector to element goes on 2a and the tan goes on the last terminal.
The right front (Dual Burner) heats up nice and red for sometimes 10 mins thenit seem to shut off. The red light uner the control will still be on but the burner stops heating up. Any solutions???
Answer Ira, You most likely have an issue in the dual burner infinite switch 7403P384-60, based on your post description. The burner cycling circuit(2 to 2a terminals) are sticking, the burner heats to the point that the hi limit switch opens, and has to cool down, before the element will heat again. Good Luck
Internal burner on dual burner not working. Serial number 23669344ZU. Which is correct burner part AP4009116 or AP4096190. Also I have not opened the unit to investigate the problem. I am sure I should check to seeif it is a switch or burner problem.
Answer James, Based on the model number and serial number(thanks) the dual element part number for your range is 12002144 But the infinite switch 74003122 is the more likely issue. You will need to raise and remove the cooktop Turn power off to the range, open the oven door. Remove the two(2) 1/4 in. hex head screws on the end of the top flange located just above the oven door. You can now raise the cooktop carefully, and can access and check the burner for damage or broken contatcts, etc. Remove the burner switch knob, then the two(2) phillips head screws that mount the switch to the manifold panel and slide the switch out of the assembly and check and replace it as necessary. Thanks and Good Luck
The serial number is 25939447AG. Thanks.
Answer Hello Richard! The dual element is part number 12002144. Thanks!
