Whirlpool Electric Range, Temperature Problem(Dual Zone) When I set at low temperature, then elements are on HIGH HEAT (Red Burn Color). What parts do I change ?
Answer Moon, Presumably you're referring to the left front "Dual" element burner. Based on your post information, you would want to replace the left front dual element control switch 9761048. When you turn the switch knob clockwise, both elements should illuminate, when you turn the knob counterclockwise, the inner(small) element will illuminate. The switch contacts are damaged and supply power to both elements at the same time, and the "cycling" of the burner is constant, instead of fluctuating.
Front dual burner heats up to point of glass being red at any setting.
Answer Hello Charles. It sounds like the switch 9758060 is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit.
Left front dual burner .
Only outer segment heats.
Center one does not.
Answer Hello Bruno. Test for power to the center from the switch. If there, replace the element. If there is no power, you will need to order and replace the switch in the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
Note: This question is for the older version of this part, but we thought you might still find it helpful
I just purchase this element for my front burner on my Jenn Air, and it does not match what I pulled out. My old radiant element has an additional black prong on it.......it is a double element.....
Do I need a different element....?
Answer Claire, Without a model number, it's hard to tell. But if you have a Jenn Air range or cooktop with a dual element, with "custom" control for the right front burner element, then yes, you have the wrong element, it may look like this 74011986 if you have the "custom" control switch, but you will still need the model number to procure the correct element for your range. .
Please tell me how to insert this plate.
Answer Hello Ann. You must raise the cooktop to access and replace the surface element 4453909 on the unit. Make sure the power is disconnected to do this.
