Is it possible to just buy the fittings that connect into the end of the water filter housing that attached to the supply and return lines?
Answer Dave, Unfortunately No, the "john guess" fittings in the filter housing are not available as separate components. They are actually part of the bypass chamber inside the housing and set and sealed at the factory. You'll need to order and install the complete housing assembly W10121138.
The water is going through the filter to provide water to our dispenser but water is not going to our freezer unit to make ice. We are changing the filter as we just purchased the appliance used but do you think the hose is some how plugged or what else should be looked at before we call a repairman.
Answer Melinda, The first place to start is the water inlet valve W10408179 on the back of the refrigerator. It is a "dual" valve, one portion of the valve supplies water to the filter and the dispenser. The other portion supplies water directly to the ice maker 4317943 assembly. It is possible for one section of the valve to fail and not allow water to enter and pass through the system. There are other possibilities, but start with the valve, it's the more common issue for your complaint.
How do I replace item W10121138?
To replace the filter housing you will first turn off water supply. Once supply is turned off remove the rear cover of the refrigerator and remove the water valve. Disconnect the tubing from the water valve that goes to the filter housing, should be dark gray tube. To remove the tube you will push in on the ring around the tube and pull the tube out. Go to the front of the unit, take off the toe grill. Take the wire that is attached to the side of the housing loose. Remove the 5/16" screws that hold the housing in place. Pull the housing out and disconnect the tubing in the same manner as the tubing on the water valve. Reinstall in reverse.
When I put the water filter in I get very little water. But when I take it out I get good perssure but then it leaks water at the filter housins can you help thanks.
Answer Hello Ricky,
If the water filter housing is leaking when you remove the filter then you will need to replaced the filter housing W10121138. This may be the cause of low water pressure to dispenser. Also may sure that you are putting in new filter if the one you had in had not been changed within the last 6 months.
Is this the right part for the water housing 2260507. Also is there video to see how to replace?
Answer Hello Eddie,
The part for the water filter housing is W10121138. There is no repair video but the way to replace filter housing, you first turn water off to unit. Unscrew the 2 screws on filter housing 5/16". Take rear cover off and disconnect the line going to filter to make it easy to get filter housing out and disconnect the compression fittings. Once done with removing tubes from the filter then you will put new filter housing on and reinstall components.
