Our door handle is broken, and I've found the part. But I do have a question on the purpose of "door handle foam", p/n AP3128723. I don't see anything that resembles that on our model, GHW9100L

Answer Steve, The door handle foam 8181845 is not visible when the handle is in position, under the circumstances, it may still be there or fallen out. It's just a pad, to help reduce damage to fingernails and fingers. Good Luck and Thanks

Answer Hi DrSusan. Not too difficult. You will need either a Torx-type screwdriver tips (T-15, T-20) or a phillips screwdriver. Color: Light grey used on platinum models 8181846. For dark grey order 8182080. For blue order 8181877. For bisque order 8182081. You can access this from the back of the door. Thank you.
