Microwave stopped working mid-use. Would like to replace the fuse before turning it into garbage. Fuse is part AP4243229. Problem is that I've removed control panel and don't see old fuse. Can't figure where it is located in this unit (part diagram also not helpful). Next step would be to remove outer metal case, but 2 of the 5 screws are specialty (they are star shaped, with a raised dot in the middle that prevents using a regular star-shape screwdriver bit). Any idea on how to remove screws to see if I can find the fuse? Or is there another way to locate the fuse through the front (control panel), since that is all open now.

The microwave stopped working while heating something...totally dead- no display, no light, nothing. When I had woken up in the morning, I'd noticed that the clock had to be reset (as if the power had gone out overnight, but nothing was affected but the microwave...not sure if this is related or not). The HV capacitor and diode look to be testing as if they're not working properly. Is this likely the only cause? What else should be tested- I want to hopefully get the repair done correctly the first time. Thanks!

I was repairing a light switch on the same circuit that my microwave is on. After repairing the light switch and turning the circuit breaker back on, I found that my microwave did not work at all. There was no display, and none of the buttons worked. I checked the circuit breakers and the outlet and they were fine. I unplugged it and plugged it back in, and the only thing that happened was that the slide out vent hood came out. Nothing else. Is there a fuse or some type of a reset button on these anywhere? It's like a fuse blew or something like that as a result of turning off/on the power at the circuit breaker. The microwave had worked fine in every way up until that time. Thanks!

The dishwasher has completely stopped. There is power going to the unit but no lights on the keypad or any response from the unit. I did replace the fuse two years ago so I am assuming it might be the same thing again. Any other things it might be or that I could check so I don't end up replacing things that are not needed? Thanks!

I was reheating a piece of fish and it was about heated (could hear it bubbling) and then all of a sudden I heard a low pop (like popping a big bag that was not too highly inflated), and when I looked over there was no power:( I am hoping it is the fuse. I figured out how to pop off the plastic trim cover pieces, and I see two prongs in the bottom of the control panel which protrude down into the metal case; so I am thinking it must release from the top, but there is no screw (that i see) nor apparent clips holding it in at the top. and I don't want to wrack on the cover part to vigorously as I don't want to damage the control panel incorporated into the piece. How do i get the front panel off to get to the fuse? Help please!!
