The gasket I want to replace is on the bottom (freezer) door. Your video shows a much larger door from a side by side. Will I have to remove the door to do the replacement, or is that just to make it easier to see what you are doing?
Answer Hello Bart,
The door does not have to be removed to replace the door gasket. As a matter of fact, the retainers do not have to be completely removed, only loosened. Back the screws out about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way so the old gasket can be removed and the new gasket can be installed. You should, however, remove all items from the freezer doo liner before beginning. This makes it much easier to adjust the gasket and liner for the re-installation.
I need gaskets for my refrigerator french doors left and right side.
Answer Hello Steve. You will need to order 2 1129252 for the fresh food door gaskets.
Is this for one door or two?
Answer Hello Steve. 2188458A is for the freezer door only.
how to install freezer gasket?
Answer MG, You will need to "roll" the door gasket up and over until to can reach the screws holding the retainer strips to the door liner, and loosen the screws(you can remove them if you prefer), there are four(4) retainers, then remove the seal from the retainers. Before you start, you want to take the new door seal and place it in the tub with hot water, so it will be flexible, and easier to work with, when you start to install it on the door. Thanks and good luck
How to install it?
Answer Hello! Pull the old gasket off. It may be best to soak the new gasket in warm water to help take its shape/form. The new gasket will press into the door liner. You may need to use a hair dryer to form the seal, be careful not to melt it. Hope this helps! Thanks.
the freezer door has a 1/2 gap. do i need to replace the gasket or is there an adjustment that will fix it?
Answer Mike, check the hinge side of the door gasket, check to see if it has started to "roll up" is torn folded or damaged. Then check the door panel and hinges for straight with a straight edge. It could be bent. Thanks and Good Luck
