Is the gasket, item AP4013369, by Whirlpool the correct one for the fridge door? And are the above answers for the hex screws, the magnetic strip and the vaseline applicable to this one, too?
Answer Hello Frank! Yes, the gasket 12550109Q is the correct replacement gasket for the refrigerator door. The installation instructions will be the same. Remove the screws and pull the old gasket off. The new gasket will press into the door liner. With the installation, you will have to screw in the corners first and do every other screw on each side to tighthen. It may be best to soak the new gasket in warm water to help take its shape/form You may need to use a hair dryer to form the seal, be careful not to melt it. Hope this helps, thanks!
My gasket seal is pushed out in the lower bottom left corner of my right-side opening fridge. Can I remove it and heat it say in a tub of hot water or the sun and reform it or will I have to replace the gasket? There is no rip or tear in it, just misshaped.
Answer Tara, Yes you may want to try "flipping" the gasket and reinstalling it after a long soak in a tub of hot water. Once you have it installed again, you may want to apply a thin coat of "vaseline" to the hinge side of the gasket, wash the metal face flange with warm soapy water rinse and dry it, and apply a thin coat on the hinge side of the face flange as well.
Is this item (AP4013369) the freezer door gasket and will it fit an Amana TX18VW?
Answer Hello Michael! Door gasket part number 12550109Q is the gasket for the refrigerator door. For the freezer door gasket use part number 12550110Q. Thanks!
I purchased a replacement gasket (AP4013369) for the refrigerator door. It is not clear to me how to install this. Do I need to undo all the hex nuts that are underneath the gasket or will that take the door apart? At first I thought it was held in with adhesive, then I thought I had to screw through it with those hex screws, but now I'm just not sure. Please get back to me. Thanks Mark
Answer Mark, Yes, you will need to "roll" the gasket back and remove all the 1/4 in. hex head screws. Just about everyone has thier own way of doing it. Just remeber to warm the gasket before installing it on the liner, soak it in the tub with hot water. or set it out in the sunshine,if possible. Also, the screws have to be tight, but not to the point where the liner and gasket are "rippled", lubricate the hinge side of the gasket and the front flange of the cabinet with a thin coat of "vaseline" and make sure the gasket is sealed against the flange, before you do the finall torque on the liner screws. Good Luck and Thanks
