I had an issue about 2 months ago with no spin. Replaced the clutch assy and all was good for about 2-3 weeks. then it started making loud "howling" noise. Now will not spin out. The agitation works fine however. I am suspecting gear and pinion but would like some confirmation. as of yet I have not opened up the transmission.

When in the spin cycle, the drum will sometimes not rotate. If I manually rotate the drum a bit (1/8 - 1/4 turn) it will then spin normally. I suspect a bad section in the spin gear. Any suggestions on what parts to purchase before I tear into the washer? Thanks you.

I have a direct drive kenmore washer. It is 26 years old. Its been a dependable old beast. Last year I replaced the neutral pack and clutch. That fixed a spin cycle issue. But it has been making a groan/moan type sound during spin (thats actually getting pretty loud). I'm thinking it needs a new plastic spin gear (gear and pinion. What do you think?

The top half of the agitator is not moving or agitating. The upper gear is not engaging its outer ring. The dogs from the center gear comes out with each clockwise movement of the shaft. But, either the dogs have lost their teeth or the receiving gear teeth are worn? Or, are there springs that hold the dogs out to engage the ring? I might need both a new ring and dogs assembly?
