My wife took the outer glass off the door to clean it. Upon replacing the glass into the frame which is shown in your video, I was placing the door handle screws back into place and the glass shattered. What did I do wrong, so it doesn't happen again with the replacement glass?
Answer Hello Mark,
The glass should have no pressure on it at all. The screws should only be snug and should not put any pressure on the glass since they pass through the part that holds on the glass and not directly through the glass. As a note, the door side trim should be behind the glass. It is a common mistake to try to put this trim over the glass instead of behind it.
I need the white metal trim (left and right) that appears to be glued to this door glass. Do you have this part?
Answer Hello Mark,
You will need to order part numbers 8523166 for the right and 8523172 for the left. These are fit tightly to the door glass but are not glued. If there appears to be an adhesive on the parts, it is probably a spill that has stuck them together.
What is the estimated cost for the oven door and do you have one to purchase?
Answer Hello Robert! Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not offer the oven door as an assembled part. If you need the outer door glass you may use part number W10118454. Thanks!
The interior glass on the oven door has slid to the right side about three quarters of an inch. How do I reinstall this glass? It has a metal part on the edge of the glass.
Answer Hello Curtiz,
There should be a bracket of sorts inside the door that retains the glass. There will most likely be a screw that has come out allowing the glass to move inside the door assembly. The metal part at the edge of the glass that you can see indicates that this is the glass package that has moved. You will need to remove the door from the unit and remove the screws along the bottom of the door assembly and if there are any on the sides, remove them. Be sure to keep up with where they came out since this is where they will have to be reinstalled.
Hi, I have a Whirlpool Stove, model # RF263LXTQ, I had to remove the outter oven door glass and the entire inner glass fell out, is there a way I can remove the whole oven door and put it back together? I can't door it when it's standing up. Thanks.
Answer Hello Ken. To change the glass in an oven door, you will need to determine how to remove the door on the model number you are working on. If you open the door to the first stopping point, some oven doors will lift off the unit in this position. On other models, you will see clips on the back of the hinge toward the opening where the hinge enters the range. If yours is like this, you will open the door all the way open, then pull the clips down until they stop and lock in place. Then close the door to the stopping point and lift the door off the range. If you door does not lift off, and it does not have the clips, then you will open the door all the way open. You will see a hole in the hinge at the bottom of the door. You will insert a pin or nail into that hole and close the door to the stopping point. Then you can lift the door off the unit. Once the door is removed, you will lay it on a soft surface and disassemble the door. Pay attention and make notes if needed for reassembly of the oven door. Once you have replaced the door glass, you will reinstall the oven door back onto the range in reverse order of the way you removed it.
