Does this glass top replacement have the numbers behind the indicators for the heat settings or are they sold separately as a decal or sticker?
Answer Hello Ricky! No, the glass 71002557 does not include the decal. The backlight decal is part number 71002466. Unfortunately, it has been discontinued and is no longer available. Sorry about that!
Do I need to get the glass clips separately or do they come with the glass top?
Answer Hi Mary Beth, the clips 3819F016-19 do not come with the new top 71002557. You can re-use your old clips or order new ones if needed. Thanks!
How do you remove the glass top to replace it?
Answer David, First, You want to turn the power to the cooktop off. Then you'll need to raise the complete cooktop out of the countertop. You can use some wrags and a couple of 1X2 slats to support the cooktop over the opening. Then remove the control knobs, and the perimeter screws that hold the glass top and support frame to the burner box. replace the cooktop and reverse the procedure. Thanks
When replacing part # AP4088968 is there a recommended seal or gasket that should also be replaced?
Answer Hello Gary. No, you do not need to replace a gasket when replacing the glass frame 71002557. Hope this helps.
the dials on my cooktop light up but the burners do not turn on. would this indicate that the cooktop needs to be replaced? if so, should a professional repair person do the job?
Answer Bruce, No, it does not indicate the cooktop needs to be replaced. It could be as simple as a loss of power from the breaker box, check and reset both breakers to the cooktop. You could have a loose connection at the power junction box of the cooktop. The likelihood of all 5 burner switches failing, is astonishing. If you have some basic mechanical and electrical skills, it's a job that most DIY'rs can do, but that would be up to you. You could contact the APP Repair Forum, they are more than happy to assist you with any needed information you need. Good Luck and Thanks
