My icemaker just stopped working. the water in door works fine but no ice, no water fills nothing. I bought a new icemaker but have not installed it yet, should I order a new wire harness also ?
Answer Pat, No you shouldn't need a wire harness. If the new ice maker doesn't come with a harness, you can transfer the harness from the original ice maker to the replacement ice maker. But, before you replace the ice maker, you should check or replace the fill valve, on the back of the refrigerator. The valve is more likely to fail before the ice maker would.
How long is harness w10146387 for icemaker?
Answer Hello Ronnie,
This harness is about 13 1/2 inches long.
My icemaker will not fill the ice tray. The water supply lines are clear as is the fill tube. Water dispenses through the door.
What part needs to be replaced?
Answer Hello Jane. Make sure the freezer is between 0° and 5°. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
I need to know what kind of fusible link is run in this wiring harness.Thank you. b
Answer The fuse in the icemaker harness is a thermal fuse that opens when if the icemaker heater has stayed on for too long.
How do get the wiring harness off of the ice maker? No plug by the ice maker. The wires go into the back of refrigerator.
Answer Hello K.C.,
Remove the white plastic cover from the front of the icemaker assembly. It just snaps on. Once this is off, turn the icemaker and look at the side where the harness connects. On the side of the icemaker there is a small square hole where you can see the plastic molex connector that plugs into the icemaker. Using a small screwdriver, press in on the side closest to the wires. As you do this, pull on the harness and it should slide right out. It will insert without the use of any tools.
installed water to ice maker but cannot get power to solenoid
Answer Don, The first thing to do is unplug the power cord and tape the freezer drawer light switch closed. disconnect the wires at the fill valve and attach the meter leads to the wires. Using the jumper wire, insert the ends into the "T" and "H" openings in the control head and check for 120 VAC at the wires, when the rake arm reaches the 1 to 2 O'clock position, Good Luck and Thanks
