My freezer quit working and fridge got to warm. Fan is not running but the compressor kicks on when I turn back on. Now after a day I am finding that I have to defrost again. What parts do I need?
If the evaporator fan is not running but the compressor is then you will need to check to make sure that the evaporator fan is getting 120 vac to it. With the fan not running it is not pulling the air across the evaporator and will cause a heavier frost build up on the evaporator coils. If there is not 120 vac coming to the fan then most likely the ADC board has failed and not sending power. If there is 120 vac then the fan is faulty and would need to be replaced.
Freezer is not keeping ice and items in freezer frozen all the time. Sometimes it is fine then others there is water in the ice bin and popsicles are thawed out. Other times things in frigerator will partially freeze. Compressor appears to be working as well as fans. We have cleaned out the coil.
Answer Hi Heather. Open the freezer door and feel the center divider facing. Is it too hot still ? If so then the condenser coils need blown out with compressed air. Make sure the cond. fan blade is clean along with the rear cover which directs the proper air flow. The compressor is not noisy is it ? Do you hear it clicking on and off loudly ? This is a sign of the compressor relay assy part # W10613606 needs replaced once you insure the compressor ohms out ok and the internal windings are ok and not shorted.Use a volt/ohm meter part #@ TJMA-DM1 to assist you in your diagnostics. Are you sure the evaporator fan is turning up to speed ? Part # W10128551. If all of this is good then you need to replace the cold control part # 67005335. Thank You.
I have a maytag side by side fridge that doesn't hold the freezing cycle: @ 0 hour - compressor kicks in and runs. @ 1 hour - compressor runs, evap fan runs, frost on evap. @ 3 hour - compressor runs, evap fan runs, evap is warm. @ 5 hour - SAAB I changed the defrost thermostat, the ADC and the same behavior and it does not maintain freezing point 0 celcius? I checked the harness of cables and the circuit is closed. Could it be the defrost bar? During running, I lower cold control
Answer Jon, With a new ADC board, thermostat, and the run times you listed, I would not suspect you to have a defrost issue. It sounds more like a sealed system issue, probably a restriction in the system. Make sure there is an even coat of frost across the complete evaporator assembly at the 3 to 5 hour run time. Good Luck and Thanks
