The top left rear corner of the dryer gets extremely hot quickly. I removed the heater and when I connect one side to 110v it gets hot and when I connect it to the other it gets extremely hot. The coils do not look like they are shorted. Thanks for your help
Answer Hello Lorne,
This can be a stuck relay on the control, a stuck centrifugal switch in the motor 35001057, or a shorted heating element 34001073 or wiring harness. To see if the element is shorted to ground, disconnect both wires to the heating element and touch either terminal of the heating element with the test meter lead and touch chassis ground with the other test lead. This shoud read no electrical connection.
The timer on this dryer was set for 1:35 and will count down to 1:33 then jump to 0:02 minutes and will count down to end then turns off. What can be done.

The dryer takes 3 hours to dry a load of clothes.
It just isn't getting hot enough.
It is otherwise working just fine.
Answer Hello Beverly. It sounds like the venting system is clogged or kinked. You will need to check the vent and clean it out. Be sure and clean the vent pipe and the dryer air duct assembly. If the air flow is not good, the unit will retain moist air causing the clothes not to dry. Try running the unit with the vent unhooked from the back of the dryer and see if the dryer works properly.
My Maytag dryer is not heating and reading 240v at power cord. Is there a thermal switch and where it is location?
Answer Hello Coupon Eddie. Check and make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer at the terminal block. Also, check the heater 34001073 and thermal fuses 35001021 35001022 and see if they are good. You can test these with a multi-meter TJMA-DM1. They should read closed for continuity. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Answer Hello. Check the vent system and make sure it is venting properly. Hope this helps.
