I ordered the lid hinge arm from your website (part # 8563964). How do I remove the old hinge, so I can put the new one in?
Answer Jay, here's some help: Unplug washer or disconnect power. To remove the lid: a) Raise the lid and remove the two hinge pin screws from both sides. b) Lift the lid, slide it off the hinge pins, and remove the lid from the washer. Pull the hinge pin out of the hinge you are removing. Reverse the procedure and check the washer and lid for operation.
Is the 8563964 hinge right & left specific? I need right hinge as I face the washer.
Answer Hello David! No, the hinge arm 8563964 is not location specific. This can be used as the left or right side. Thanks!
How do I replace the left hinge pin?
To replace the hinge pin, to remove the hinges you will have to lift the main top. To do so you would push in on the spring clips that are in between the front panel and main top. Remove the screws from the hinge and install new hinges.
Washing machine Lid just falls down, much heavier than it use to be. Feels like some sort of assistance spring has failed. Could you help me find the replacement part. Thanks
Answer Hello Anthony,
One or both of the hinge springs have failed. These have a left (AP3885286) and a right (AP3885287). Since they have different part numbers, you will need to order one of each.
Are these as simple to change as removing the two screws, removing the old and inserting the new...or is there more and does the top of the washer have to be removed
Yes to remove the hinges you will have to lift the main top. To do so you would push in on the spring clips that are in between the front panel and main top. Remove the screws from the hinge and install new hinges.
Lid won't stay up, it just falls down. What part or parts will fix it?
Answer Hello Palu,
Part number W10141682 is the spring loaded hinge. This is the part that keeps the lid from dropping.
