Sometime ago I replaced both Oven Door Hinges on my Jennair double oven, however it still does not close the oven door tightly. In fact the gap is so wide that the oven light switch does not turn the light off. I read elsewhere that I should have also replaced the Hinge receptical. Is Hinge recptacle assembly part #AP4096704 the correct part for this purpose? The picture of the part doesn't help to identify it's use. If not, what do I need to correct this problem? Thanks
Answer Hello Armand,
Whether this correct the issue will depend on the nature of the door hinge failure. I'm not meaning to confuse you but, sometimes the hinge receptacle 74008015 will correct the issue and sometimes the inner door liner, (71002968 for a 10 series and 2402W264-19 for a 14 series), has a warp in it from downward pressure being applied with the door opened. Most of the time the nature of the failure can be determined with a yardstick or other straightedge. To make the determination, open the oven door and lay the straightedge on the door from the hinge to the top of the oven door. It should lay flat against the door liner. If it will "rock" because the door liner is not straight, the door liner is the issue. If it does lay flat, the receptacles will correct the issue.
As a note, the series number is the first two digits of the serial number. Also, the part for the 10 series shows dis-continued so we cannot get it. If you do an online search, there are still several places online that show the part in stock, so if you need it, it may still be possible to obtain one.
I am looking for the part that controls the (spring / tension) on the upper oven. The door does not stay closed. Something appears to be broken. What replacemrnt part do I need and how is it installed.
I do have previous experience in making some appliance repairs. Thanks
Answer Hello Armand. Based on the model number you provided, it sounds like the hinges 74008014 are bad and will need to be replaced. To replace them, you will need to remove the door from the unit and disassemble the door. Then, you can access and replace the door hinges. Hope this helps.
How do you replace the hinge receivers?
Answer Dick, First you'll need to remove the door(per your users manual) dismount the wall oven from the cabinet, and slide the oven out approximately 6 inches. You will see the two(2) 5/16 head screws, that hold the reciever to the oven frame, remove the screws. On the front frame, you'll remove the remaining lower screw,(you already removed the upper screw when you removed the hinge/door assembly.
we're sure you'll do fine. Thanks, and Good Luck.
