I just watched the video on changing the ice dispenser,. My ice dispenser is working., however the water dispenser is not working. What must I do to get it working?
You will want to pull the dispenser front and check the switch bracket 2180226. The pins on the switch bracket may have broken and not allowing contact of the switch by the lever. Check the bracket for broken pins.
We just replaced the chute on the ice dispenser and it is working fine.. now the water will not come out of the water dispenser. Could our repair have caused the water not to work? How do you repair the water dispenser?
You will want to double check to make sure that the dispenser lever is making contact with the switch for the water on the right side. Check to make sure that the control bracket that holds the switch is not broken and causing the issue.
Hello. How would I know if I need only the chute or the kit, please. I know the ice is stuck into it and water is running on the door from the ice melting. Would there be a way to test it?
Answer Marcos, First off, your GS6NBEXRS01 refrigerator has a different dispenser and uses different components, than the part you referred to 8201649. Your most likely issue with the description you supplied is a failed flapper motor W10184813 and or linkage 2305242. If you'd be kind enough to repost your question and supply an e mail address, we'll be happy to send you another reply and include some test information and illustrated service information.
We need the mounting piece that pin slides into. The small loop that the pin slides into has broken and unable to fit the door on again.
Answer Hello Thomas,
You will need to order part number 8201756 to correct this issue. The only other fix is to replace the door assembly. Be advised though, you should practice going into the dispense area several times before removing the paper backing. The super sticky stuff behind the backing will stick the first time it touches something and it will peel off of the part when pulled back off. This destroys the repair part. Also, the instructions say to cut off the remaining parts of the broken hinge "ears". DO NOT DO THIS because you cannot properly line the new part up where the hinges need to be. If it gets installed in the wrong position, the ice door will not seal and the frost build-up in the ice chute will continue.
