Hi my name Sheryl I have an Amana gas range, the oven will not light but the broiler will work? Can you tell me how or what I need to check.
Sheryl for Model Number Amana #AGR5735QDS
Answer Hello Cheryl,
You will want check the oven ignitor. If you do an amp draw on the ignitor you should have between 3.2 and 3.6 amps. If you do not then replace ignitor. Also check to make sure ignitor is getting 120 vac to like. If there is 120vac but the ignitor is not glowing then ignitor 7432P136-60 needs to be replaced.

My oven will not heat up past 220 degrees. The igniter does not glow at all, tested it for continuity and it tested good. Unplugged the range and tested the leads on the safety valve (both sets) tested good for continuity. Can barely read the temp. display. The broiler and stove top work fine.
Mike for Model Number Maytag MGS 5770ADW
Answer Hello Mike. Test for 3.2-3.6 volts AC at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

I have a kenmore gas oven and the range top works fine but the broiler and oven will not light and I can't smell any gas when I turn them on. What can I do to get it working?
Sara
Answer Hello Sara,
The first thing that you want to check is the oven ignitors. You can check them using multi-meter and ohm them out. They should be 50-950 ohms cold. You also want to check amp draw on the ignitors and ensure that they are getting 3.2 to 3.6 amp draw when they turn on. Without proper amp draw the valves will not open. We will need your model number to help you with this. Please post your model number with a new question on the parts page. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/modelnumber_locator.aspx

Hello, I have a Maytag Gas oven that fires up, gets to a certain temperature, usually under the temp requested at the control board, and then all of a sudden it will shoot up to 500 degrees. What do you think? I have back probed the oven temp sensor and got the correct resistance on that part, but I am not sure if it would be the igniter? I don't have a clamp on tester to see what the draw is from the igniter, just a multi meter. Is there a certain # I should be reading to test the igniter with my multi meter?
Brad for Model Number MGR57750DB
Answer Hi. You can check to see if the igniter is getting 120 vac to the igniter first. You need to ohm out the oven sensor for 1080 ohms to 1100 ohms to see if it is open. I'm getting to the safery valve to see if it has 1-ohm resitance on the terminals at the safety valve. Disconnect one wire to ohm it out. It sounds like that the diaprahm internally is weak under pressure then it may be a cause as well, so ohm check it. IF the logic circuit are bad on the control board then it may be the issue. It is more then likely the diaprahm is weak over powering the gas supply during operation. Thank You.

The oven will not heat up. The broiler works fine, convet oven works fine.
Tony for Model Number mgr5875qds
Answer Hi Tony. Use a volt/ohm meter part #@ TJMA-DM1 to assist you in your diagnostics. Ohm out the bake igniter part # 7432P136-60. It should read between 50-400 ohms cold. If you have no continuity then it is open and you will not have any way to get the gas valve to open for safety issues. Thank You.

This is an Amana Gas Range. The Gas top works fine. The oven will not light. The Broiler does not light. I see no glow in either igniter. The oven worked fine one day ago. Is this likely to be an igniter problem or a gas valve problem? Thank you.
Leinow for Model Number ACF3355AC
Answer Leinow, Though possible, it's not likely that both igniters would fail at the same time. It's more likely you have a failed ERC 77001202. You may want to test for 120 VAC at each of the igniter wire harnesses, with a multimeter, to verify the voltage from the control. here's some help for meter usage, [http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html] You can also test the igniters for a "closed" circuit at the same time. If all checks OK, then repalce the gas valve. Thanks and Good Luck

My range top and broiler work fine, my oven does not come on. The igniter does not glow red or get hot. Does the igniter control the gas flow? If so if the igniter is faulty will the gas not flow?
Chris for Model Number maytag mgr8670wb
Answer Hi Chris. Yes, if the ignitor does not pull 3.2-3.6-amps within 30-45 seconds the safety valve will not open. This part # is 74007498. Thank You.

I smell LPG when my oven first comes on, then it's ok after it starts to burn. It has done this sense new. Service rep. says maybe the ignitor is not heating up fast enough ???? How fast should the ingnitor turn red hot ???
Stan for Model Number mgrh865qdw
Answer Stan, The igniter should work it's way up to a "white" hot glow and ignite the gas in 60 seconds or less(average). Since we're on the subject, you may want to check the voltage and or the amperage draw when the igniter is active. It should produce at least 3.2 volts to the gas valve coil terminals or draw 3.2 amps on the wiring in 60 seconds or less. My guess would be you have a weak glow bar igniter7432P136-60 . Good Luck and Thanks

I just got a response but am not sure it will lead me in the right direction. I get nothing at all when I turn on the oven. I can see the ignitor glow only when I turn on the broiler. It does nothing when I turn on just the oven, and the temp never changes from 100.
Tracy
Answer Hello Tracy. You will need to test and see if there is 120 volts AC coming to the igniter when the oven is in bake mode. If so, and the igniter does not glow, you will need to replace the oven igniter 7432P136-60. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps.http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
