How do I remove the light switch?
Answer Hello John, the correct light switch for your model is 12466104. Disconnect power before attempting the repair. If you look at the picture you will see there is a retainer tab that holds the switch in. You need to release the tab by sliding a thin butter knife or blade as you pry outward. You will likely have to work your way around the switch to locate the release tab. Once released, you can disconnect the wires from the old switch and install the new one. Hope this helps!

I ordered a light switch part and removed them to do that even though I put them back and if I manually press on the right one the light come on but I am unable to get the water or ice to come out now is this a related problem???
Answer Hello Gina,
Based on the information provided it sounds like the wires are connected wrong. If you push in on switch the lights should go off. If you release switch lights would come on. If the switch is reading that the lights are on when the door is closed then the dispenser will not work.
I'm replacing the light switch, part # 12002646 and the wire doesn't come out far enough to insert onto the new switch. I've tried pulling gently but I dont want to break the wires. Please help!
Answer Hello Handy Man. I use a pair of needle nosed pliers to connect the wires. I know this sounds hard, but it is. You just have to go slow and try to have patience with it. You see, the opening is so small that if they put longer wires on the switch, there wouldn't be room for the wires. (The wires would prevent the switch form having room to fit in the hole). I know this wasn't much help but I still hope this helped some. Have a great day!
Replacing the light switch...I managed to get the switch out. It did not want to come out. It broke in several pieces. My question is...The switch is out, the plug is not. It seems to be molded into the foam insulation. Do I cut the foam out of the way? Or what? The plug is in the foam very tight. Please help...
Answer Hello Michael. If you can install the switch without cutting the foam, then it is ok to do so. If not, and the plug for the light switch is stuck in the foam, you will need to remove the switch from the foam to install it onto the light switch 12002646. Only remove the foam around the switch and remove the switch from the unit. Hope this helps.
