When my washer is full of clothing and starts to agitate , the agitator lift's off the shaft and rises up.
Answer Hello A.J.
This model has a bolt that holds the agitator down to the transmission shaft. If the bolt isn't loose, the agitator hole in the agitator itself (being plastic) is probably wallowed out. This would require the replacement of the agitator 387838. I hope this helps and have a great day!
How do you remove and replace the upper agitator
Answer David, Review the repair video attached to this part number 285811, It's more informative than I can be, in this limited space. Thanks and Good Luck
Lint catcher above the agitator comes off when spinning?
Answer Hello Do. If the lower agitator 387838 is good, you will need to replace the lint filter 63753. Hope this helps.
How often do you have to pull off and clean the agitator link filter?
Answer Hello Frank. You will need to clean the filter 63753 about 1 time a year under normal use. If there is alot of lint, you may have to do it more often. Hope this helps.
Hello, washer wont spin but does agitate. I replaced the motor coupling but still no spin and the motor smells a little. Thanks
Answer Hello Bill. Check and see if the lid switch 285671 is bad or broken. If so, it can cause the problems your having. Here is a link to a video of how to access and replace the part. Hope this helps. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5aW9WkTFhE
How can I tell if my Whirlpool agitator shaft is long, medium or short?
Answer Hello Barbara! It will be the size of the cam. We will need the model number to your product to determine which agitator repair kit you will need. Thanks.
It used to snap on and off of the lower agitator(For the past 16 years). Now it is very loose. The bolt is not loose or missing.
Answer Hello Steve. You will need to check the upper agitator and the lower agitator to see which is stripped and replace the broken portion. If the upper agiator is stripped only, you will need 63753. If it is the lower agitator you will need 387838 which includes the upper portion. Thanks!
When this part falls off during the spin cycle is it bad or is the lower agitator the problem?
Answer Hello Steve! If you remove the top agitator cap down inside the lint filter/upper agitator should be a bolt, this secures the upper agitator to the lower agitator and holds the two items secure in place. Check around the tub to see if you notice the bolt floating anywhere or if it is missing. The agitator bolt is part number 358237 if you need it. Hope this helps!
