My dryer drum doesn't turn. Tech played with the display and ran some electronic test. He said the CCU went, but that doesn't seem right. The top dryer worked properly and the bottom one makes noise like something is happening, I think it heats but doesn't turn. Could the tech be right?
What will need to be determined is whether the motor is running. If you turn the unit on and disconnect the vent from the back. If air is blowing out then the motor is running. This would indicate that maybe the belt has broken or the rollers seized up. If it is not blowing then this would be a indicator that the CCU is bad.
Lower dryer will not start. All lights on panel light up and function properly except for the start button. After several attempts dryer started and once we opened door to put clothes back in, it would not start again. Upper unit works fine. Any suggestions? Thanks
Answer Steve, you most likely have a defective 31001658 Console w/Membrane Panel. You can try this first, remove the console and disconnect the key pad ribbon(s) from the control board. Clean the insertion end of the ribbon with rubbing alcohol, and allow it to evaporate. Reinsert the ribbon back into the control make sure it's in as deep as possible and fits tight. If the problem persists replace the console assembly.
We have had our Maytag Neptune Drying Center for several years now and we absolutely love it. All of a sudden, the front Control Panel is malfunctioning. The time and drying option readouts flash, cycling first through the drying options for the lower dryer, then the upper cabinet dryer, and back again. This takes about 30 seconds, then continues through the pattern again, not stopping until we unplug the dryer. By reading through your material, and others', I think we need to replace the Control Panel, part #31001562 (your part #AP4039650). However, I also see references to the "Relay Board" with which I'm not familiar. What is your advice? Thanks!
Answer Hello J.D.,
This sounds like the unit has been put into the showroom mode. To get it out, unplug the unit for at least one minute. When you plug the unit back in, immediately hold both stop buttons until the lights go out. The unit should now be ready to use.
