We have this 2 year old microwave and everything works but it does not heat. Is the magnetron my issue?
Answer Hello MikeZ. You can test the magnetron. It should read less than 1 ohm and have no broken magnets. If bad, you need to replace the magnetron and the diode on the unit.
2 year old microwave, everything works but the heat. Can this be replaced by owner?
Answer Hello Jasper! You will need to check the magnetron W10216360, diode W10492276, and hv transformer 8206343. You can test parts by using a MultiMeter TJMA-DM1. Here is a link from our free repair forum you can refer to for help with using a multi meter. Microwave is in a rental apt. 2 years old and has barely been used but out of warranty. Everything works fine except it doesn't heat anything. Will replacing the magnetron fix this- if not which parts should I order? Thank You
Answer Hello Ted. The model number you provided is not working. It sounds like you may need to replace the magnetron and the diode. Look for cracks and burnt spots in the magnets and the tip of the magnetron. The diode should only read on a meter in one direction. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
