Washed a thin sheer piece of fabric. at the end of cycle part of the fabric is stuck under the agitator. what size socket wrench do I use? Metric or standard? Thank you.
Answer Gloria, Using a ratchet with a 7/16? socket and a 12? extension, remove the hex head bolt from the agitator, then lift the top half of the agitator out of the washer.
Washer does not spin on permanent press cycle.
Answer Hello Gary. It sounds like the timer 8541942 is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit.
Washer will not agitate or spin but the water drains out. What's the problem?
Answer Hello Polly. It sounds like you need to check the motor coupling 285753A on the unit. If broke, or bad, it will cause the issue you are having.
Maytag Performa on final spin made a crunch noise. I immediately pushed control in and stopped machine. Tried to restart it nothing happenes. It did not empty of water. I did it by hand. Whats broken please?
You will want to access the pulleys on the bottom of the unit and check the one for the drain pump to see if it will spin and spin freely. It sounds like the bearing may have come out of the pump.
Used the agitator repair kit to replace worn dogs and cam but the top part of the agitator seems a bit loose. It works (agitates), but I think it has too much play in it. Can this be fixed? Thanks!
Answer Hello G. Spangler. If the unit is working properly, then there is no need to replace any parts. If it is slipping, and the bolt is tightened all the way down, then you may need to replace the agitator assembly on the unit.
