Hi, We recently purchased a house with a whirlpool LA5668xswo. The upper agitator kept falling off during the wash cycle. The lower part still works. We want to replace the upper agitator. It also is missing a cap/ fabric softener cover (I'm not sure what this model is supposed to have). What parts would we need to buy? I am confused because the upper agitator which was in the machine has a part number of 63753, which on this website is listed as incompatible with this model. Thanks, Sasha

The top part of the agitator does not seem to be working. I can turn it by hand without resistance. When the machine is working, it repeatedly turns maybe and 8th of a turn then comes back to where it starts. It does not appear to be moving the clothes in the water column as it should. Is there a relatively simple fix for this?

Answer Hello David, With agitator not engaging it sounds like you need to get new agitator dogs 285811. The dogs are located under the fabric dispenser or cap in the center of the agitator.

Answer Hello Darrell! It sounds like the agitator dogs and cam are failing in the upper agitator. You can replace these parts in a kit, part number 285811. This agitator repair kit is used when the upper agitator is not working and should correct your issue. Thanks!

Is there a mover agitator that has a fabric softener fill/dispenser that is compatable with this model? I am looking to replace my current agitator mover that does not have it incorporated.

My upper agitator is loose and not turning with the lower. The nut that holds it down seems tight and I am afraid of breaking something if I tighten down on it. Should I order the repair kit? Thanks!
