I have another question about the washer. It agitates when it goes into the spin cycle. I took the gear case apart and there is nothing that I can see wrong with the gears or shaft. What does the neutral drain switch do inside the gear case? Is this what causes the machine to go from drain to spin to wash etc? Thanks Don
Answer Hello Don. The way the unit goes into spin cycle is the motor reverses on the washer. Then the paw arm in the kit places the gears into spin mode. If your washer is draining, it is reversing. If it is not the motor is not reversing. If it is reversing, then you need to replace the gear box and not just the kit. This way the seals are new on the unit as well.
Washer will not drain. What part do I need to fix this issue?
Answer Hello Lise. If the unit agitates but does not spin and drain, you will need to check the lid switch 8318084 and see if it needs to be replaced on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
My washer agitates and drains fine, when the agitation finishes, it goes into the neutral drain. When it goes in, it lasts about 5 seconds then i hear a loud clunk and it starts spinning. Its full of water when it does this so i know its bad on the motor. What needs to be fixed??
Answer Kaden, you're probably on target, thinking it's the neutral drain kit 388253. as you're removing the components you'll also want to check the drive basket tube assembly for damaged lever and the clutch for excess wear . then remove the gearcase and tear it down and replace the neutral drive kit.
Problem will not spin, unless I open/shut lid. I have to do this twice to complete the wash cycle.
Answer Jim, based on the information provided you'll need to replace the lid switch, part number 3949238. Thanks!
Hi my washer spins intermittently. Ive changed the clutch assembly, coupler and check drive block all ok. I can get it to spin by moving my basket...I thinking something with my transmission think I might get the neutral drain kit
You will want to check the motor capacitor 8572717 to make sure that it is good. The capacitor is a run capacitor and could be weak and when there is a load on it to spin it may not have enough power to allow the unit to start. If the capacitor checks ok then check the brakes to make sure that they are not dragging and if this is ok then the neutral drain would most likely be the issue.
When we let the washer sit loaded with clothes and water in it it leaks water . Is there a seal to check or replace or is it a hose connection problem?
You will want to check to make sure that the pressure hose is not leaking. Also check to make sure that there are no cracks in the outer tub that would cause the leaking and check to make sure that the leak is not coming from the centerpost seal in the middle of the outer tub above the transmission.
