I have a Model SVE47500 Jenn-Air Grill range. I screwed in a new oven light and it lit momentarily with a flash in the socket. I discovered the base of the old bulb had remained in the socket. I removed the base and after cleaning the socket it appeared to be in good condition, and I screwed in a new bulb, but it doesn't work. Is there a fuse in this circuit?
Felix S for Model Number Jenn Air SVE47500
Answer Felix, No, there is no fuse in the oven light circuit. But there is a relay on the relay board 12001689 that supplies 120 VAC to the light assembly 74011278. When the socket arced, you may have damaged a wire to the light socket, or caused the relay internal switch to fail. You'll need to access the back of the range and check the wires for damage , and voltage from the relay board to the light socket with a multi meter.
I have a built-in Jenn-Air Gas Range, model SVD48600. The light bulb ceramic socket has cracked and needs to be replaced. It looks like an easy enough repair with the replacement kit. What is the easiest way to access the back on a built-in unit?
Jonah E. for Model Number SVD48600
Answer Hello Jonah,
Turn off the breaker to prevent electrocution. Remove the kick panel and disconnect the downdraft hose on the easiest end to access. Have a friend help lift the unit over the fan motor and move it out far enough to get under it. Be sure to protect the floor before moving the unit to avoid costly damage. From here it's just a matter of removing the appropriate panels and the light socket. You will have to remove the bulb lens and the bulb first. Putting it back is just the opposite, so don't let your friend leave yet!
When I went to replace the light bulb I found that the bulb had broken off its screw-base. What's my best plan of action?
Melissa for Model Number CWE5800/CWE4800
Answer Hello Melissa. Disconnect the power to the unit. Then use needle nose pliers and grip the lip of the base and unscrew it from the socket assembly.
How do you remove the glass cover to replace the light bulb? It seems very tight and does not turn either, does it just pull out with a lot of force?
Roger for Model Number Part Number: AP4100487
Answer Hello Roger. That glass can be very difficult to remove after it's been on awhile. Usually a rubber jar lid gripper or a damp wash cloth to where you can get a good grip and protect your hand, will assist in removing it.
How do you get the assembly out of back oven wall to change?
Clara for Model Number rbs245prb00
Answer Hello Clara. You will need to disconnect the power to the unit, and remove the back panel of the oven to access the release tabs on the light assembly. When you press in on the tabs, you can push the light assembly into the inside of the oven. Hope this helps.
