I ordered and very quickly received a replacement for the compressor start device for the Embraco EGY90HLP compressor (part 8201786). The overload protector is a match and the instruction are very clear. However, the prior overload protector had some sort of black capacitor (???) the fits over the protector and goes into two slots at the left side. The instructions make no mention to reinstall this. Is it a needed piece? Thanks

My refrigerator appears to create a small flame around the electronics leading into the compressor when the compressor turns on. Smoke and the smell of burning plastic is emitted. However the compressor seems to turn on. What is the best way to know which part(s) need to be replaced?

I have a Whirlpool side by side model #ED5SHAXMT00. It sounds like the start relay is bad (fan running continuously, buzzing sound then a click every few minutes). How can you tell if it's the start relay or the overload relay that's bad?

My refrigerator is having problems cooling. It runs normal, just not cooling. If we turn the switch off and turn it back on it cools ok. I replaced the overload\relay switch but that didn't fix it. Any other suggestions? Thank you,

My refrigerator and freezer are not cooling. My compressor is hot and ticks and both fans are running. No lights are flashing on the inside, all lights work fine. I have checked the ohms on the compressor and they are, bottom pin to top left pin 3.6 ohms and top right pin to bottom pin is 7.3. What I have read is it is the overload relay. Is this correct and can you test the relay?
