The lights in the control don't all work some do some don't from reading your previous questions I have decided to replace the control panel How difficult is this to do does the whole face panel have to come off?
Answer Hello Rich. 1. Unplug dishwasher or disconnect power. 2. Open the dishwasher door. 3. While supporting the control panel, remove six screws from the upper sides and center of the inner door panel. 4. While continuing to support the control panel, close the door. 5. Gently pull outward to disengage the control panel. 6. The control panel will be connected with wires that may need to be disconnected to set the control panel down.
Can I purchase the ribbon alone?
Answer Hello Dennis. No, you must order the panel W10235721 to get the ribbon cable.
it seems that the previous people had the same questions. My ribbon has a big (about 1 1/2 inches) brown spot with a white y in the middle is this the trouble and can i just purchase the ribbon or do i have to buy something else and what would that be.
Answer Dennis, Discoloration or marks on the ribbon can occur, but don't usually affect the operation of the keypad circuits. It's the creases, and sharp bends or twists in the ribbon, or a break down in the tracer inside the ribbon that causes the issue. You didn't mention an issue, but presumably you can't program a cycle or there are cycle or option lights that remain on. You will need to order the complete control panel/key pad assembly W10235721 in order to solve the issue. there are no individual parts available in most if not all instances.
I have a Maytag dishwasher that is not even 3 years old. Last week it would start just by closing the door. This week I can push all the cycle buttons and they light up but the start just flashes and does not start. Do I need the control panel [ap43780848] or the control board W10235721
Answer Hello Jennie,
The control panel W10235721 is at fault if there are no bad connections. I would open the door panel before ordering anything and remove the ribbon cable. Using a pencil eraser, rub the ribbon cable only in the direction the traces run to prevent damaging the traces. Re-install the ribbon cable and re-try the unit. If the problem is gone, you have repaired the unit with no parts. If the problem still exists, the issue is going to be the control panel. The only way I would say the problem is in the control W10235721 is if moisture has gotten into the board area and the ribbon connections have corroded. This would necessitate the replacement of both components.
