My washing machine started to have problems during the spin cycle. It shows an error indicating that the paddles cannot move and to redistribute the load. It will get through a cycle without clothes, and can run throught the diagnostic spin test properly (I only tried that with no clothes). Once a few clothes are in it, it will not work. Is this a clutch problem or could it be something else? If so, what clutch do I order? Serial number starts with 13 if that matters.
Answer Hello David,
This does in fact sound like the clutch 25001169 has failed. Be sure when you install it to start the bolt, rotate and push up on the clutch until you hear it drop in TWICE. The screw can be tightened before the clutch drops in, but it will not work. So, when you install it place it in position and start the bolt loosely. While pushing up on it, rotate the clutch and you will feel the internal workings mesh and drop in. When this happens, you need to do the exact thing again. At this time, while holding up on the clutch assembly, you can tighten the screw. It should torque to 96 inch lbs. Do not over torque it and not torquing it sufficiently will cause it to drop off. i have a maytag neptune tl washer also , is sounds like clutch issues per the other ?s so does your clutch assembly parts ( that i just ordered via chat)come with instruction on how to r & r the machine i have not taken this one apart before, or is there repair helps online or do i need a repair manual? i am real handy and mechanically inclined.
Answer Erik, Yes, the clutch kit 12002211 does come with instructions. Basically,Unplug the power cord from the outlet. Raise the washer top, remove the front panel. Roll the drive belt off the clutch pulley assembly. You'll need a 3/8 in. box end wrench to remove the pulley bolt in the center of the pulley. Reverse the procedure and you're done. If you need more information, there are a lot of posts on the AppliancePartsPros.com Repair Forum, and we'll be happy to assist from here if you need us. Thanks and Good Luck
