i seem to be having the same drive motor pulley breaking issue as alot of other people are having with the bell type pulley.my belt broke and i took dryer front panel off and belt looked like crap, shredded, and also the end of the pulley was in bottom of dryer.this is the part that you put a wrench on to remove it,mine is threaded, but it is reverse threads.righty=lucy and lefty=tighty, that is looking from the back, but you have to remove it from front,so from front you turn to the left to remove it with vise grips or channel locks.dont clamp very hard, cause it is aluminum.also have to hold shaft with vise grips or channel locks.my shaft is round,no flat spot.i was told no replacement pulley from several appliance stores,i have to get new motor with pulley on it.now i am am told from Maytag Dealer that 31001535 is the pulley i need,so i ordered it today,be here tomorrow.what do you think of this.i will report back tomorrow of how it goes.oh,also he said if pulley dont work, bring it back and he would refund money, but i hope it works.i am brain dead.

Belt broke. Ordered a replacement. When we tried to put it on the pulley broke. Is this something that can be replaced without replacing the whole motor?

Noticed that the belt was breaking frequently and it appears the pulley is worn and causing this to happen. Can the pulley be replaced on the motor? How can it be removed and a new one reinstalled?

The pulley #31001535 will it work on our dryer? The one that broke is threaded -it is not pressed on. The belt runs derectly over threads. I think it is really silly that you have to buy a motor specially on a commercial unit thats like changing the engine in your car cause you need new spark plugs. Thanks, Chuck

I entered my Model Number HYE3657AYW looking for a motor pulley. My search turned up part #AP4038987, but the picture looks different than my original part. The new part shown has a hex on each side. Mine has a bell on the motor side approximately 1-1/4" in diameter with a hex on the outside (away from the motor - towards the rear of the machine). Will the new part shown work or is this the wrong one? Thanks.
